Great bit of income for the club but seeing a load of Z list celebs mincing around the hallowed turf fills me with dread!! Also, hoards of screaming kids in and around the ground!
Won't that clash with the open top bus parade to celebrate our 6-0 victory over Millwall in the play-off final the previous Saturday?!
Apologies for going of subject immediately, but does anyone know what happened to that Evening Standard 6-aside tournament that used to be held at Wembley Arena? I know they still do the Masters Tournament round the country, Evening Standard was London only with current first teamers appearing.
[cite]Posted By: Ru1986[/cite]Are they cutting back on the budget beacause they usually host it at Chelsea do they not? I guess they couldnt afford the corprate prices anymore :-)
DOn't know about "usually".
It was at Millwall a couple of years back as well as Birmingham and West Ham.

Only remember it at Chelsea once.
O right really i went to it once at Chelsea but fiar enough i diddnt realise it went from ground to ground. I am all for it though hopefully abit of extra income at Charlton (needed aswell) do we think they will open the whole ground for this or just lselected areas like in the St johnstones paint trophy game vs Barnet.
Everton legend Neville Southall lifted the Soccer Six trophy for the second time after captaining the side the won the 2009 event at Chelsea FC in May. They beat Max Rushden`s Soccer AM team in the final and saw off competition elsewhere from JLS, The View (ft Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan), NDUBZ, Blue, Toploader, the Inbetweeners, All Star Comedy (Omid Djalili, Lee Mack, Russell Howard), Telstar the Movie (Ralf Little, Justin Hawkins, Simon Jordan, Carl Barat), Reverend and the Makers and The Sun (ft Joe Calzaghe).
In the girls tournament Tulisa`s NDUBZ team with Lois Winstone, Shystie, Mz Bratz, Waterloo Road`s girls, Fen-Ix and Michelle Heaton`s team with Bianca Gascoigne, Nicola McLean, Caprice, Gemma Bissix did battle with the former Liberty X star`s team coming out on top.
[cite]Posted By: Elthamaddick[/cite]I thought we were told that when the weather improved then so would the screen, it was the cold weather effecting it, or did I dream that ?!?!?
didn't see much of an improvement yesterday !
Hilariously yes. Although I'm not sure that heating up burnt out pixels will repair them, so it's not too much of a shock that it didn't work.
When we were cost cutting and knew there wouldn't be money to fritter on propping up the expensive-to-maintain screen there should have been a plan to switch it off, when it got in a state. As it stands it makes me cringe. Don't really care what the opposition think of us. I think things like that (in a small way, admittedly) transfer a message to the crowd and players when they glance at it. Something along the lines of "we used to be doing alright, but we're on the skids".

On a serious note i agree with that. After reading on here the other day about how meticulous curbishley was in such things as making sure that all training balls were collected to instill a sense of discipline and professionalism i cant imagine it happening under his reign. It would either have been fixed or turned off.
The first names of those doing battle in this year's Celebrity Soccer Six tournament at The Valley have been announced.
Double platinum-selling pop group The Hoosiers will be going head to head with a host of big-name bands and musicians, including grime artist and festival favourite Lethal Bizzle.
Grime Artist? Well i'm sure the goalposts could do with a clean.
