  • Hopefully he gets a good run of games, don't think he played much at all for Staines and Woking.
  • He could get a look in next season if we are in l1
  • Talking about u18s, this just popped up on NewsNow. We beat Coventry 2-1 this morning.
  • He came on as a Sub today and my eldest boy informs me that, at first glance, he appears a bit lightweight. Good experience but will need time.
  • The Wings are really flying at the moment. Making a real charge for the play offs. Shame they started so badly as they would have been play off certainties.

Will probably do him good to be in a side that is in a bit of form. Don't think Woking were doing particularly well whilst he was there.
  • This could be a big factor as to whether he gets a pro deal, usually around this time of year the club announces the youngesters that will be released.

Yeah he's not the biggest or strongest, but from what I've seen he's a fairly clever player and a decent finisher. Not sure if he'll make it here but could well be involved more often next season if we don't get promoted. Of course that'll depend on whether he's done enough to win a pro contract, which I think he probably has done.
  • He had a very good game vs barnet or brentford? Surely could do no worse than akpooney?
  • Not sure if he is quite ready, interesting the guy who saw him at Welling said he seems lightweight. He should come and watch Mooney.
  • He does have 1 other asset.............HE IS OURS !!!!!!!!!!

Played the last 20 mins yesterday and Jenkinson came on at ht.

Welling are home this tuesday against Weymouth, and are now only a point off the play offs. Only one defeat in the last 13 league games.
  • Was it BArnet he scored against last season? I thought he was good that night and had a bit of craft about him.

As for Mooney being lightweight, I think that's a bit unfair. He held the ball up well yesterday.

Scored against Barnet this season in the JPT. He was good that night and linked attack really nicely, but he looked decidedly lightweight against a Barnet team that looked like all it ever wanted to do was get down the wings to the neglect of the central areas. In effect he had space to play and pull strings in the first half, when the tempo went up in the second half he started to crumble and Parky superbly took him off to prevent loss of confidence.

Tuna seems to me like the majority of our youth players, talented but lacking presence and the character that brings it to the fore. Who knows if in two seasons he's good enough? But I can't see him up to standard next season physically, so if he doesn't have an impact non-league I'm not sure. I'd rather keep Basey, if we're short on cash.
  • Met Tamer out in Greenwich a couple of months ago whilst he was still playing at Staines. Had a bit of a chat and when I asked about how things were going at Staines his words were that 'it's more like playing Rugby down there!' He's not to keen on the physical nature of Blue Square South. I suppose though that's all part of why we send our young players to have a go at that level, to toughen them up a bit.
  • From what I saw vs Barnet he's got a great brain on him and a tidy finish. Fast too.

Could be a waspish annoying striker like Dickov

most importantly he'd be cheap to keep. Deserves a new contract
  • [cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]Surely could do no worse than akpooney?
Well, though "Akpooney" played pretty well yesterday to be fair. One of them in agony with a busted toe, took a pain killing injection and kept plugging away.

I like Tamer's attitude. Played well against Barnet, nice touch and showed a finish too. Also in the youth game against Chelsea when the ball ended up in the (empty) South Stand he jumped in there and charged up the steps to retrieve it. More of this is what we need.
  • Come on the Wings. The bottom side at home on Tuesday then 3rd bottom side away on saturday, 2 wins and they could well move into the play offs.
  • I think he could be a very important player for us over the next few years if we don’t go up this year!
  • That's quite an achievement from the Wings seeing as pre season seemed as though they had 25 new players all turning up
  • A very good friend of mine is now the first team coach down there, christ knows how he got it, a great footballer, top guy, was a black cab driver and loves a pint, done all of his coaching badges and was thinking about going to America to coach kids out there.

  • Welling won 7-1 last night....Tuna wasn't even on the bench
  • Must be frustrating for him, he's gone to 3 clubs now and they've not been able to give him the games he needs.

Perhaps he was injured though or back training with us? As its work experience he can come back here to train and then go back to them.

In fact he might even be on the bench for us on Saturday with Burton, McKenzie and possibly Sodje all out.
  • Blimey, get his name right at least. It TamER - pronounced Tameer.
  • I thought his name was spelt Tinna ...........
  • Might not have played last night as was told yesterday whether hes got a pro contract.
  • can see him being on the bench Saturday esp if Akpo is out too.
  • [cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]I thought his name was spelt Tinna ...........

    LOL.
    Behave, Oggy
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Might not have played last night as was told yesterday whether hes got a pro contract.

Any idea when we will know whether or not he has?
  • Whoops - just found it on the Bromley thread. well done, Tamer - pleased for him.
