Different versions of songs that bring out other emotions

Just listened to `A New Englandl` by Kisty McColl - a great uplifting anthem. The first and favourite version is Billy Bragg's which is darker and deeper.

Also Joy Division's haunting "Love will tear us apart" and evryone else's ranging from the soulful Paul Young to other more mournful versions.

Smokey Robinson's "Tears of a Clown" melancholy - The Beat's version more upbeat.

  • 'A Mess of the Blues' (Elvis) and 'The Wanderer' (Dion) both of which were re-recorded by those cheeky chappies the 'Quo' who made them sound like most of their other stuff with no character or feeling whatsoever!
