"What Steve Tilson said was a joke, and laughable," Bailey told skysports.com.
"I still have many friends at Southend and just believe that Tilson was disappointed with the result, so someone had to take the flack.
"At my previous clubs Sutton, Barnet, Southend and current club Charlton it is fair to say that I have only ever given 110 per cent at all times and will continue to do so."
Bailey insists that the bad blood between him and Southend is not down to him.
"I know the Southend fans were truly annoyed about the way I went, but I was transfer listed," he said.
"I had become a big asset at the club and they took the decision to sell me, and they made decent money from me.
"I know that Tilson was unsure about me as a player anyway and if it wasn't for the then chief scout and first-team coach Dean Austin, players like Lee Barnard and myself may never have been at the club anyway."
