Comments

  • Missed just the Leeds away one
  • i was at leeds away, oooh ah you would have had a field day, they gave us the whole away end which is now that big stand that built few years back,we filled half of one pen.
  • the home game v Ipswich in 1987...........I had a works sports day & didn't want to let people down.
  • Saw Palace Ipswich and Sunderland. I'd only just been born for the others. Still remember Newts goal in the Ipswich game very clearly. Sat in the south-stand. Noise was deafening.
  • Went to the home and away games vs ipswich and of course the final in 98.

Would've also been to the Palace home game in 96.
  • Saw Ipswich at "home" Shithouse Dump in 86/87 (still remember laughing at the fact they were sponsored by Fisons manure)
    and Wembley....

    So just 2 for me....
  • Went to all of them. All pretty memorable apart from 1995-6. Seem to remember getting a first minute oggy v Palace at The Valley - was it the Herminator?
  • The playoff final in 98 was my first ever Charlton game. As an 8 year old I was entranced, and since then it's been 11 years of that game proving to be a bit of a false promise ;-)
  • Maidstone United v Cambridge United with Nicky Johns in goal for Maidstone
  • was on hols for both ipswich 87 games.
    saw all the rest.

lol ... standard ... my excuse was i had no one to go with and shit it ... we are the kings of excuses for piddly turn outs .....

i also actually went in the swindon end at selhurst when palace knocked them out in semi of play offs and in the blackburn end at selhurst when palace were 3-1 down from the frst leg(i think) and somehow turned it around (wright and bright, i think) and won the game to get promoted , that was a sickening feeling ... rovers had a charltonesque style turnout as well just in that little corner.... these were in the 80's when we ground shared and i was at my peak of bitter and twistedness as far as palace are concerned .... so that's 4 palace play off games i've seen and they've won the lot ... (no churley, budgie or SOS i wont go the next one!!)

went to an orient v huddersfield play off final at wembley with some o's fans.... they lost
went to burnley v scunthorpe(stockport ??) at wembley on a freebie can't remember result
  • All of them except Ipswich away in 98
  • Only the bottom 3 Palace home/away. Leeds home /away. Ipswich home/away and of course everyone went to the final against Sunderland diddnt they :-). The other two i diddnt go too.
  • I missed Ipswich and Leeds away and Play off game in 1986/7
  • Did them all bar Leeds at St Andrews.
  • Missed the playoffs from 1987, only saw about 30 mins of palace away as I was ejected from the home section in arthur wait. I saw all the others

Lief Anderson had headed at his own keeper from point blank range, the keeper spilled it and Newton stuck in the rebound. Went ballistic when that went in, quiet journey home that day though.

Remember queuing up on the morning of the home game to buy tickets for the away leg the following Wednesday - my first experience of queuing for Charlton tickets (didn't go to Old Trafford in 94). Turned up an hour before the box office opened thinking I'd made a shrewd move and would be near the front of the queue. Walked along Floyd Road without seeing a soul, feeling quite smug at my cunningness. Then got to the club shop and saw a huge queue of people snaking from the back of the North Stand round into Charlton Lane. Couldn't believe it. Think we had about 2,900 tickets for that game and I must have been about 2,600th in the queue.
  • was at every one.
  • Seen every play-off game. Nearly missed the kick-off at St Andrews because the coach was late. Leeds away was one of the nastiest atmpospheres I've experienced.

Also went to Burnley v Stockport final at Wembley - not on a freebie though. Burnley won either 3-1 or 2-1 I think.

No it wasn't. As far as I remember it was huge bloke called Lief Andersen?

  • Have to come clean, did not fancy going to Leeds away due to the fans at Elland Road,Was in apub in Crayford that night kept going out to the car to hear reports on the radio. When replay was required just had to be at the game no ifs or buts and sod the Leeds fans.Unable to travel up to Ipswich 97 had to get some browny points with girlfriend from somewhere. As for the Palace game that we lost one of my mates that i went with did not get out of Norwood Juction station before getting nicked. The best game for me had to be the replay with Leeds at St Andrews the game had everything you could ask for and more.Ended up in apub on the outskirts of Nuneaton that night after the game.Everyone in the pub kept buying us drinks that night for keeping Leeds out of the First Division.HAPPY DAYS.
  • Went to:
Ipswich Away 0-0 and Home 2-1
Leeds Home 1-0, Away 0-1, St Andrews 2-1
    Crystal Palace Away 0-1
Ipswich Home 1-0 (Played them 6 times that season. Is that a record?)
    And Wembley final

    Missed;
    Crystal Palace Home 1-2
    Ipswich Away 1-0
