Hello all
Im a bristol rovers fan, i come in peace!
Just a few thoughts about last nights game for you
Firstly lets get this out of the way, Blizzards tackle on Basey was terrible. Definitely a red card no questions about it. Having watched dominic play a for us we know that this is not something he would go out and do maliciously ala Roy Keane style. It was a badly timed tackle and the outcome could have been horrific. Luckily this time Basey hasn't broken his leg but it could have been very bad. Trolls comment he thought he got the ball, well he must have been watching a different tackle?! But a manager has to defend his players and i think parky would do the same.
On behalf of all us Gasheads we wish Grant a speedy recovery and wish him all the best
Onto the game....
Well unfortunately i could only watch from afar on skysports last night. (working away)
Rovers managed to get the ball and pressurise you guys really well (well, very good for a league one team, were no arsenal!)
i think the game plan tonight for us was to get the ball back from you as quickly as possible and get in your faces a bit to see how you could handle it. and it worked pretty well
Likewise i think the challenge on Bailey was probably a penalty but then again Sodje clattered our man Lines in the box, looking at the replay Sodje wasn't even looking at the ball.
Obviously i'm very happy with the result and feel we could have added a couple more goals too. (couple of one on ones missed and one off the line)
Dont get disheartened you addicks fans out there, every team goes through a glitch (rovers normally seems to last from August to May!)
Hope the rest of your season goes well and you beat Norwich into the automatic spots, still annoyed at the 5-1 drubbing they gave us!
Take it easy,
WiLL......

There was a gas works behind the ground and the Bristol C*ty fans came up with the nickname and we took it on eventually
its not as bad as our nickname for them - Shitheads :-D
Welcome!
We were and have been a bit dysfunctional and disjointed lately - and we don't like it up us (translation: crap and gutless).
If only we'd wanted it as badly as your boys did last night.
Good luck for the rest of the season .....at least make sure you beat Millwall.
I wanted my post to kind of show the light on both sides, i can see how you guys and gals would be upset about last night, if i were a charlton fan watching that i would have probably felt like the ref and the rest of the world was against us!
But there were decisions on both sides that were dubious, i.e. the penalty claims, i think if that challenge was made a bit later on in the game we would have been down to 10 men and the story may have been very different. If you watch the ref talking to blizzard i thought i could make out that he said something along the lines of 'its the first few seconds'.
I dont want to see that sort of thing in football and especially not at my club, however we are watching league one players not ronaldo or rooney.
it could be worse, you could have been challenging for a championship place then see you club slide into the basement division and only scrape out of getting relegated into the conference on the last couple of games, two seasons in a row!
Ok bit of history for you addicks about rovers
We used to play at Eastville, our home ground and many fans still view it as our home
we played there right up unit about 86 but financial problems meant the ground was sold to the company that operated the greyhound track which ran around the pitch. They put the rent up so much we had to move out alongside this some nice bristol city fans decided to burn down one of the stands!
off we went to Twerton park and ground shared with Bath City (you think the memorial stadium is bad you should see this place!) at this time we got nick named Rag bag rovers due to our lack of funds and scraping up free transfers here and there!
In 1996 we finally moved back to bristol as tenants at Bristol rugby clubs ground - the memorial stadium. Due to problems at the rugby club they allowed us to buy 50% share in the ground for about £2mill. A year or so later the rugby club was in financial trouble again and this triggered a claus in the contract that if they got into any finacial troubles and jeapordised our position at the ground we could buy the remaining 50% for i think about £50k!
So we now fully own (or our directors own) the memorial stadium
Planning permission was granted last year for us to redevelop into an 18500 all seater stadium but the plans relied heavily on the inclusion of 200 flats within the stands that were to be rented out to students, an investor came in to buy up the flats and all was looking rosy only for this lovely credit crunch to come along and Mr investor pull out
So there you have it, yes we will be at the mem for the foreseeable future and one day we might actually be able to use that granted planning permission and turn it into a reasonably nice stadium!
Seen Charlton play at both those grounds, Will.
