Embarrassment

edited February 2010 in General Charlton
Outclassed by a team who probably earn less than about 2 of our players!

Parky throws his cards in the air, a la Pardoo, and deals up nothing! Where were you Sam, Racon, Burton, Semedo? Worst performance of the season. Hardly a shot on target. Why is our only creative player pushed aside when the team should be built around Nicky? Weird? Respect to all who travelled and Grant. We let you down tonight.

    seriously?

we had quite a few... mostly crap... but enough to win a game away from home.
  • Bailey creative? He scores goals but that's not the same thing.

Going 1-0 down we struggle against physical, organised, hard working sides.

And guess what we are going to come up against for the rest of the season?.
  • This is starting to look suspiciously like the football we were playing when we got relegated last season. Not a single positive tonight. God awful performance. Christ help us next season in this shit division when the handful of decent players we do have Bailey, Sam, Shelvey leave. Think about what's left under clueless management. Title of thread is spot on for me.

Utterly dreadful overall performance tonight. But not a single positive at all? Are you sure? Racon's goal? Elliot's performance in goal? Surely those were positive.
  • racons perfomance was dire .
  • Don't want to detract from the awful, red card offence on Grant. If it was 10 mins into the game he would have been off-justifiably. However, we were hopeless! Another game where we barely had a shot on goal. Sam, Racon, Sogje A and Semedo were hopeless! We were out fought by a team of farmers! Parky???

I stand corrected. Elliot saved us from further embarassment.
  • Parky is pardoo in disguise.
  • elliot done extremely well first half in fact he was brilliant (and i'm not a fan of his)
would have liked him to have come out a bit more for rovers's 2nd goal cos 7 yards out left far too big a gap for the fella to smash the ball in , he should have come out like he did for that great save in the first half when he made it a lot harder for their striker

  • just for reference stevietwells, sam wasn't useless, he created some of our best opportunities and was one of the less appalling players in a dreadful, inept performance ( i have just got back from the game). so bored of people getting straight on sam's back...

sodje was poor, parkinson shouldve started with reid on the left and just played 451 - as soon as basey got injured (i.e. for the entire game) we looked completely disjointed with no left footer, solly and bailey always going inside and when we had an opportunity to break down the left they just turned backwards - need a left footer in there

    Yeah all his fault.

Do you think because you went you had a better view than anyone that watched it on telly. You cant knock someone for saying Sam was useless if in your next sentence your basically saying it about another player. Its all about opinions and that was his

With respect, you must understand that Sam is a Whipping Boy. We have several - they are amongst the best players we have, but are unfashionable.
n.b. most of the defence are normally exempt.
  • Paulsturgess, respect to you mate for going to Bristol on a Monday when you could have watched it in a cozy pub (like me!) Always feel bad for supporters who travel when we put in a performance like that!

For a team with supposed quality players who is chasing promotion, I don't believe many of them, Sam included, contributed anything like enough and that happens too often. We barely had a chance worthy of the name. If you're going to get promoted and losing away from home your best players should be dominating and creating chances-like Norwich and Leeds on Sat. As far as I could see it was only Bailey who did anything remotely like that.

A lot of these guys have significant Premier League experience and I don't believe any of them will be happy with their personal recent performances.

    Well, that's my humble anyway!!!

  • The BIGGEST embarrassment of the night was our teams reaction to the tackle Grant Basey any other team in the league and his colleagues would have been going mental but not a peep form our lot, some team spirit you have harvestered there.

Always been the way, we do not react in an angry enough way if we had maybe the Tit in black would have showed a red. We are and have always been too nice in those situations
  • well said cafcbourne, any other clubs players would react with passion, being honest though what they going to do.

    Nail on the head.
  • The most embarrassing thing about yetsreday was the commentators comments in the tunnel after THAT tackle...."Bad news is Basey is off to hospital with a suspected fractured tibula but the good news is that he has his sister with him"....oh well, thats ok then - nob!
