  • Indeed. Always enjoyed his (his wife's?) books.
Never tire of seeing his horse cock-up the National.
  • one of the best ever thriller writers. People always shy away from his books because they think they are all about horseracing but they're not. Ok there are tenous links to the racing world but not so as to put you off reading them. In later years wife Mary helped with the writing due to his ill health and the latest two of three have been generally written by his son Felix. However, it can't be forgotton that he was first off a great jockey and a great writer.

He'll be missed by me. I read every book, some many more than once, and not once did he disappoint.

    RIP Dick.
  • Thoroughly enjoyable to read.

As Large says often there was a racing theme in that the "detective" (in the broadest sense of the word) had a racing background. Sid Halley, whom featured in two or three books, being a good example. However the books all stand up as good detective yarns and make ideal holiday or sickbed reading in my opinion.

RIP. As Large says he will be much missed.
  • Pretty special to reach the top in two very different spheres.

    RIP.
