Chucked Memorabilia That You Wish You Had Kept

edited February 2010 in General Charlton
Just decided to start doing something useful with old ticket stubs, shirts etc by attaching them to the office wall and turn it into a bit of a shrine as its my own space, office cum spare bedroom, dartboard etc and am starting to think that over the years some of the stuff that iv not kept hold of that would have been great to still have such as

1. The original Osca shirt
2. A nylon cap which i exchanged with a Man City Supporter at Maine Road when we got thrashed and they were promoted
3. The Man City cap i inherited
4. Countless ticket stubbs upto 2006 and some since that have gone astray. Even Yeovil this season has dissapeared and Swansea last season (where do they go!!!!!!)
5. Countless other home and away shirts including the ridiculously tight one from selhurst days (signed by all the players after Derek Hales testimonial) along with the liverpool style grey one. Got around 10 shirts here and must have "lost" at least another ten
6. Hundreds of programs that i had since 1980 upto the mid 90s when i then stopped buying them
7. Old Season Ticket Books
8. Grass from The Old Valley (although it wouldnt have looked right on the wall)

Most of my stuff got destroyed when i split up from an ex in the 90s but was just wondering if there is a possession you remember having that you wish you had kept

  • I had an original copy of the bible, which I let go along with my complete collection 1980 - 1983 of Charlton programmes.
I regret one of those two actions
  • I also got a Man City cap given to me that day by a bird through the fence next to us, she wrote her phone number inside it but I never phoned her....I wonder....
  • I chucked my Yeovil away ticket the other day ...... it was just a shrunken crinkled bit of card almost illegible with most of the print rubbed off.

A battered relic of a very wet day.

how sad that im jealous you still had that crinkled bit of card
  • And now I've binned it.

I'd gladly sent on to you, Choice ....... as a memoir of a classic away day we'll talk about for years.
  • That's a coincidence f&h - I bought my 47 Cup Final programme off some druggy fella I met in a pub for £20.

    (only joking)
  • not chucked out but wish I could find the Charlton/celtic ski hat to give to my son and the 60s st book that I asked Sam Bartram to sign for me.

  • there were really popular those celtic hats, have we a link with them?? lol
  • Programme from my first game
Some od my early replica shirts (especially a couple of the GK ones)
  • Sponsored links:

  • Still for my '47 final programme (my dad went), but was realliy pissed off when we got damp in our loft and the staples went rusty.
  • Apparently some bloke made over £500 in 1946 by selling 20,000 'bootleg' cup final programmes....
  • Can we widen the scope of this thread a bit?

I really regret selling an old sports game I had, called Arnold Palmers Pro-Shot Golf. It consisted of a stick the size of a golf club with a six-inch Arnold Palmer at one end and a trigger at the other. When you pulled the trigger, Arnold made a perfect golf swing. There was a set of changeable clubs, driver, 3 iron, wedge etc. which you could fit into Arnold's grip. You played on the carpet indoors.

Until you got on to a foam green, you used a polystyrene ball, on the green you used a marble. There were plastic sand traps too.

This was truly an amazing game! Anyone else ever played it?
  • Killer
No, and no. In answer to your two questions,
    .-)
  • Fair cop ;-)

Back on-topic, I used to have an old-style wooden rattle that my Dad (a cabinet maker) made.
It was heavy duty and at nine years old I could hardly get it to rotate, but when I did it made a lot of noise!

I didn't chuck it but it got mislaid in one of my numerous house moves, along with my Ray Treacy and Keithy Peacock autographs :-(

    Did he say no?

Yes, he did. He then cuffed me round the ear for being so cheeky.

Actually I don't think I even asked him. I stood there next to this giant of a man holding out the pen and ST Book and he signed it for me with a big smile.

Yes and I still have mine from when I was a kid, in very good condition.
