[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]I'm tempted. If I can spare the cash I will do it as it did for the first vip scheme.
TBH if Charlton go out of business in the next five years losing out on the remaining years of my five year ST will be the least of my worries.
In the meantime a cash injection now will be very handy for the club but I'm glad we are limiting the offer to 500 so where not taking too much of future income now.
I was tempted Henry, and likewise would have had to duck and dive to get some of it. My insurance would have been the credit card or a reassuring word from the board, now the spare cash
has been spent.
For years I spent much more than I could afford on Charlton, this time I let the "Good Lady" decide what she wanted to do with it (We now have a Dog!)
I'm afraid Charlton are no longer as important as they were.
I still enjoy the day, a few beers and meet some mates. But I used to start thinking about it half way through the week, now its friday before I know if we are home or away.
Somethings changed and I'm not sure what it is, I will still be there next year.
But I would have borrowed the money ten years ago to try and help Charlton but now I need assurances, and a word from Richard Murray would have swung it.
There appears to be no words of encouragement filtering down from the boardroom, nothing positive to hang on too.
Its well a stated fact that the Board have run out of money and can no longer afford to gamble, and likewise nor can I.
Its very sad but true.
And now them s***heads from up the road are leading and fecking Ambrose has scored, so there's not a glimmer of hope.
[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]am I being dumb here?
Are they accepting credit card payment for 1 year season ticket? If so why not for the 5 year? Surely the whole sum comes out at the start?
Call me cynical - looks like the club has struck a profit sharing arrangement with Zebra Finance - I would be happier to pay extra and have it on my credit card than this arrangement!

It's not a question of when the money comes out, but how big the risk is that they are going to have to pay you back 2,3 or 4 years down the line.

But as Rick has said, it's not the club's decision, it's their merchant service provider's.
I'm still in two minds. Can afford it but getting pissed off by people on here calling me a negative doom-munger and questioning my support. If I buy a five year ticket, go to games but then say we are shite I can't see why that isn't allowed. If people are happy to week in week out wait until the 40th minute until we have a shot, see us equalise in injury time with our first effort on target that half and still say everything in the garden is rosy they are allowed to do so but if I'm not happy with that type of performance I'm not allowed to say so, should I still bother going I wonder.
[quote][cite]Posted By: Airman Brown[/cite]There's an assumption here that if the club went into adminstration, the administrator or a subsequent owner is not obliged to honour any existing contractual commitments (other than to other football creditors as part of the league rules). I don't know if that's entirely correct. Palace are in admin, but I'm not aware that people who have paid for 2010/11 season tickets in advance - or even 2009/10 season-ticket holders - are at risk of being excluded from the ground if the club is taken over. Then again I've not paid much attention to Palace's situation. Some expert clarification would be useful.
Of course there is always a risk that a club that goes into administration doesn't come out the other side.
When I said in my OP "going bust" I meant going into liquidation. I'm pretty sure that the 5-year scheme (we wait to see what the contract says) would be honoured in the event of administration and the club subsequently being taken over by new owners. Mrs Cafcfan and I were also in the original 10 year and 5 years VIP schemes which were great value (and should have been continued by the club). But splashing out £4250 on two tickets without some idea of what might be happening in the future is something I personally don't want to do. If new investors in the club come in or if the existing directors say they will be sticking with the club for at least a couple of years then I might change my mind.

go for it large .... no one likes the truth, you say it how you see it and it hasn't been pretty hence why we are playing at the lowest level of league football in our history since we entered the leagues.....................
if some people try to take a bright outlook on things that is up to them and there were plenty who tried to make out relegation from the prem could possibly be a good thing but don't let the constant sniping at you as being a 'negative' poster bother you ....
it's when your in the ground that your support matters not when you're typing away your frustration at charltons ineptness on the field of play on this website....
and you are as good as a supporter as there is following that tripe around the country
it's in your blood and there's nothing you can do about it WE LOVE EM.... so go get yourself one and put yourself thru the pain barrier ... YOU KNOW YOU LOVE IT!!

So with you it is not a case of the 'product' but more a case of others not seeing things the same as you ? Why are you bothered what people think away from the ground ? You've posted on these sort of sites for years so you should be well versed in knowing to don a thick skin or take others opinions with a pinch of salt.
It is a good example of why some people go to football though, everyone's reason is completely different. Why you cover quite as many games home and away as you do i sometimes am a little baffled to be honest, as you're feedback indicates you really enjoy them. Its not for the football as i don't think you really come across as feeling particularly attached to the players, its not for the social side as i know you don't really drink and mainly go with family, and i don't think its for the atmosphere and some desire to scream your head off for 90 minutes. Perhaps its some form of addiction, or need for a constant / dependence, i don't know but i'm sure there are many others attached for the same reason (we got any psycologists on here ???).
Anyway, i'm waffling. You know you're going to be there so do whatever option it is thats gonna save you some money over the long run !!

who the credit card company or the club? surely the insurance only lasts for a short period, you then fully own the ticket and credit card co aren't involved?
Am seriously thinking about it, but would like to see some more of the small print - has anyone been able to find the contract with full terms and conditions that the application form says is available on the official site?
