Gary Ablett is hoping the Melrose Consortium will be given approval to buy Stockport County by the Football League on Thursday.
The league's board of directors is set to meet in Preston to decide whether to hand County their 'golden share' of league revenue and allow the consortium to complete a takeover.
Administrators Leonard Curtis had been hopeful the buyout would be completed by 'mid-January' but the league refused to approve the bid because 'a number of issues had not been resolved'.
If a deal is not agreed, County could face expulsion from the league at the end of the current campaign, but manager Ablett told the Stockport Express: "We have been told that the takeover could be close. I've had conversations with the consortium over the past fortnight and I'm probably as hopeful as I've been.

The Melrose consortium, led by former Manchester City player Jim Melrose, needs approval from the Football League in order to receive a "football share", allowing the Hatters to remain in the competition.
However, joint administrators Leonard Curtis said they had received confirmation the League was "unable to recommend the transfer of the SCFC share to the prospective purchaser".
The administrators said in a statement: "We understand that certain items of required information are still outstanding.
"We remain hopeful the Melrose Consortium can still progress their interest and we will continue to provide information and support to them.
"However, we will also continue to actively seek interest from other parties and would emphasise that any such parties should notify us of their interest as quickly as possible in order to ensure the club's future."
County, who have been in administration since 30th April 2009, are rock bottom of League One after 16 matches without a league victory.
