Bailey set pieces

edited February 2010 in General Charlton
Leaving aside his having a bit of an off day with general distribution, should he really be taking so many of our set pieces deep in the oppo half? As exemplified by his nudged goal on Saturday, he's clearly our sharpest finisher of scraps around the six yard box. In the absence of any other natural predator, I'd much rather see him in there being brave and alert to grab one than crossing free kicks and corners. Surely we've got someone else (even with Jonjo out) who can send in a decent cross from a dead ball.

This is no criticism of him - I just feel he's trying too hard to do everything when he'd pose far more danger in the box.

  • Bailey isnt really a threat if he is not taking free kicks, as he is never really going to win a header. maybe if he was just behind in the event it came back out, agree he should not take them all, especially when JJ is in the team
  • Simple answer - Basey takes and Bailey loiters with intent on the edge of the box.

Basey's dead ball delivery is excellent - Bailey is superb at picking up the scraps on the edge of the box

Yep i agree with this, maybe let johnjo take a few aswell
  • He's certainly a threat from the edge of the box. Trouble is, he's the only one alert enough to pick up the scraps further in as well. Also reckon he's better in the air than some give him credit for. Perhaps we should just clone him!

Or let him **** our wives, then wait 20 odd years
