Just missed the ticket office closing - anyone know if they are they available on the night ?

I am assuming they will be..........

  • Yes, it's not likely to sell out.

Wonder how many Clapton will bring?
  • Great, feel free to delete the thread.

wasn't sure if we were allowed to sell on the night - we will clearly not sell out !

    only took 1.5k

doubt they'll do much more than threaten the 4 figure mark in all honesty (if that)

don't get good gates, Monday night on Sky, doing rubbish and nothing novel about the ground to them
  • No restrictions
  • I was offered 4 tickets for the O's game today by a friend of my missus who got them free from the school she works for. Reckons she gets them "all the time".

    1. That's a bit annoying when you pay 500 sheets for your seaso.

    2. She has no intention of going to the game, so why take the tickets?

    3. How is a dinner lady getting hold of four tickets anyway - aren't they meant for kids/parents?

    4. I wonder if these tickets will be added to the ... ahem ... attendance figure.

    Airman?
  • Anyone?

Its called marketing, encouraging kids to come to the match getting the local community schools (extending into kent, irritating Gills), been happening for years and yes as far as I am aware added to attendance figures as the figures are for attendance not payment.
  • she doesn't get them ''all the time''

The offer moves around the three local boroughs of Bromley, greenwich and bexley.

With those boroughs it is offered to different schools each time.

So maybe ''all the time'' actually means twice a season.

Funny that on another thread someone is saying that the club should offer cheap tickets

Err .... yes, I get the principle thank you, and I really don't have an issue with giving tickets to schools to give to kids and their parents. But this woman is a dinner lady, so it would seem that the tickets aren't being distributed properly.

Oh right, silly me - you must know her then Henry? No?

She gets offered tickets ALL THE TIME via one means or another. Am not saying that they ALWAYS come via "official" channels through the one school, but as a school employee she obviously has got to know employees at other schools doing the same job as her and so can get hold of free tickets ALL THE TIME.

For the avoidance of doubt, that's ALL THE TIME.

It's very unlikely she can get them all the time as a school employee, for the following reasons.

We operate the schools scheme in six areas (Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lewisham, NW Kent and Tower Hamlets) and only one area per match, so Greenwich schools only get tickets for three or four games a season. Within that we only do 20 schools a time and no school more than twice a season. It's very unlikely that a head teacher, never mind a dinner lady, would have contacts in enough out of 300 schools across six areas to get tickets "all the time".

The other main source of comps is the community scheme. It gives out tickets to specific named initiatives for each match and we monitor where these go to avoid repetition and duplication. There are a lot of people involved in the distribution of these tickets, so there is more potential for abuse, but I have a lot of confidence in the integrity of the people at the top of the trust. Again the tickets are spread over a very wide geographical area.

On top of that the club does issue a smaller number of comps to various partners. i don't oversee these and I can't speak for how they are used, but you can assume that they get tickets because someone in authority at the club sees value in giving them to them, commercial or otherwise.

All comps are printed with the name of the recipient organisation or individual and can therefore be traced back to the school or other group.

Every time I've investigated these stories I've found that they are exaggerated. "All the time" usually means "more than once". Of course there can be exceptions, and some tickets will find their way to regular fans, especially when overall demand for a game is lower. The club has to make a judgement about the balance of costs and benefits, but if this person gets tickets "all the time" she will know where they come from.
  • still doubt that but the point is that one school doesn't get free tickets every game or even one borough.

No need to get all emotional off it. You'll have nolly throwing his toys soon

    ; - )
  • Emotional Henry? Moi? Nah.
    ;o)

Thanks for the explanation Airman. I'm seeing her tonight so I will ask her how she manages to dodge your system, if she does.

Anyway, my main point was about her getting tickets but never having any intention of going - the b*tch!
  • Right, it turns out that she gets some access to tickets through the school she works for, some through people she knows who work at other schools and some via the Community Scheme through various sources. Reckons there have only been one or two games this season where she wasn't offered tickets, but even then if she'd wanted them and bothered to ask she may still have got some.

    Thank you, and goodnight!
  • So Offy - is it fair to say she "gets around a bit"? (in the nicest possible sense!) ;-p
  • You would.
  • She's probably on Facebook I don't want charlton tickets thank you group
