Nice one - how to turn a positive thread into a negative in less than 10 minutes.

    Question is, why?

Does it make you feel any better?

    Strange. Very strange.

less than most to be fair.

Despite the goals I still think he's better off coming on in games rather than starting them. It's good we have two different types of right wingers - when Sam is on teams worry about what he'll create, Wagstaff they've got to try and stop him getting into goalscoring positions and running into space.
  • So how many points have his goals won us? Quite a few!

Nice wind up Large, probably not the best timed though since Mooney got a great header on Tuesday night.

He's no Darren Bent but he runs his balls off which is more than you can say for some of the shite we have down there this last couple of years.
  • Waggy's got something that a lot of our youth products over the years lack - composure in front of goal. It can come with experience but is rare to see in someone so young. Reminds me of the young Paul Walsh.
  • he's scored a few good goals as well!!
  • Really happy for Waggy, has weighed in with some useful goals this season and indeed some crackers, I think the only thing he lacks is a bit of strength on the ball but he's young and with experience and confidence this is bound to improve.
  • He has done really well, and to be honest probably surprised some of us.
What he needs to do when the opportunities arise is to show that he can contribute to a whole game and not just be an impact sub.
  • For me he's still only good enough as an impact sub, when he was given a chance against Millwall he froze. The kid has definitely got talent though.

Yeah fair play to waggy, still dont think he should start though! he is more of an impact player and Sam is still our no1 RM in my opinion

As for mooney, was that a wind up Large? i know you generally post negative comments but seriously if that is your honest opinion i dont think you know much about football, firstly mooney has been scoring yes not as frequent as waggy in the mins but even neon deon wouldnt have better mins per goal. and with football its not just about the goals they score its about the work they do off it, also general build up play, he seems to make intelligent runs and get behind the defender and put them under pressure, yes he is not a goalscorer but he will still score every now and then, only criticsm of him would be needs to work better with burton
  • Im very impresed with him so far and all the goals he scores are good ones his hit on Tuesdy night i was very impressed with.

Wagstaff is definately a good finisher given half a chance and improving with experience and confidence. Parky is playing it right 4 now as Sam is #1, but he has competition for his place!
  • parky and the other coaches seem to be coaching him well.

He seems to be getting stronger as well. He maybe older than Jon Jo but is Still growing and strengthening.

His work rate is Good and he defends when he has to.

Puts pressure on sam. Where was Sam at Baggy's age?
  • Waggy has always come highly recommended to us and now we are finally seeing why. He was always scoring goals in the younger age groups and is proving he certainly does have an eye for goal.

His pace is excellent and he does work hard (sometimes a little bit of a headless chicken)

The best thing about him is that whenever he gets the ball he is direct. He goes for the byline or the goal every time. Something Lloyd Sam should learn as whenever Richardson gets the ball Lloyd runs to him and take an easy pass rather than sprinting down the wing

Keep it up Waggy - we love you

Playing in the reserves and went on loan to Leyton Orient, think they were in League Two at the time.

Who's this Baggy? Any good? ;-)
  • Agree Waggy looks to be amongst our best finishers, a few different goals he has scored aswell. I think he may be ready to start but only on the right, on the left against Milwall and Brentford, he didn't make an impact. Also whenever he has come on, on the right he has looked dangerous. If he could work on strength we'd have a really decent winger. Is he 19? plenty of time for him to develop though and we may have another gem
  • Nice to see the lad scoring and getting some real beauties too. Certainly knows how to strike a ball cleanly and i hope he can carry on making the impact he has to date.

If only Sam was as direct as Waggy he would be a terrific player!

Imagine a fusion of the two - I reckon you'd have a Ronaldo (same colour too!!)

Waggys directness, striking of the ball and eye for goal
    Sam's trickery and (somethimes) crossing
  • Good point dan re:playing well on the right, less so on the left.

That's a little harsh on Sam, as we were in the Premiership when Sam was Wagstaff's age, and there's no way Waggy could be a backup Premiership player now!

However, I do agree that SW is progressing nicely.
  • Saw Waggy's great finish (and vital goal) at Stockport from the left, right across the goal and into the corner of the net, against a keeper who was having a blinder. Great really cool finish and guess who provided the assist? A certain hardworking Mooney!

You're judging him on one performance during which he was played out of position.
  • [cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]less than Mooney that's for sure.

I'm just pleased Large doesn't pick the team :-)
  • Wasn't having a go at Sam, just pointing out that he too took a while to develop in the player he is now.

Partly that but he also had to wait for an opportunity. If we had been relegated from the Prem a year or two earlier he surely would have got more chances. Just as if we stayed in the Prem it's unlikely Wagstaff, Solly, Tuna and Mambo would have made their debuts.
  • Really glad for Scott, Pardew nearly destroyed him with the hype a couple of years ago, now he's got his head down, and looks a decent player, good turn of pace, has a trick or two, and can finish well.

The goal at Stockport was high class, control with the right, finish with the left

Has Sam developed or have we dropped down to a level that is right for him?....
  • Charlton of old- type player in my opinion which is refreshing after some of the mercenaries that wore the shirt in the past few seasons.

Was delighted for him and the team when he netted and it seemed to suggest a real team spiriti that has be missing for too long in recent years.

As a big critic of Parkinson i will happily eat humble pie if he keeps grinding results out like this until the end of the season even if the football is ugly at times.

Bit of both but he had some good games in the Prem.
