I am still more than covinced that we can get into and stay in the top two. We are are.........A Good side actually!! Any other year we would be 10 points ahead of the 2nd place team and well on the way to promotion (maybe). This year League 1 has Leeds United and Norwich City and they are good sides and so are Charlton Athletic. Between the 3 of us we have helped raise the profile of the division, the others are too inconsistent. The top 6 will be Charlton, Leeds and Norwich battling it out for automatic and the failing side will join Colchester, Huddersfield and any random side from Millwall,Swindon,Mk Dons and possibly Pardewhampton for the remaining spot. The rest of the sides are all much of a muchness tbh.

[cite]Posted By: budgie[/cite]I prefer the way it was when it started, the teams in 3rd, 4th, and 5th, and the 3rd from bottom of the league above.
That's shit, although we managed to stay up that way in 87.

Not quite. We finished fourth from bottom that season. The bottom three went down automatically. It was done that way to reduce the top division from 22 to 20 clubs. Once this was accomplished they decided to keep the play-offs as they had been so exciting.
  • I've made these two suggestions before as ways to make it fairer:

    Match 1: 6th v 5th
    Match 2: 4th v winner of M1
    Match 3: 3rd v winner of M2

    OR

    a mini league in which:
3rd plays all their games at home
4th plays 2 at home and 1 away
5th plays 1 at home and 2 away
6th plays all their games away
This suggestion means that each team plays 3 games which would mean even more revenue. It could be called The Champions League to make it easier for marketing, advertising and all that other stuff ;-
