Am I right in thinking this would only be dealt with by The FA if the ref makes a report...maybe with any luck he wont/hasn't.............after all it wasn't really that big a deal was it.
Posted By: smudge7946The criticism of the police on this thread is spot on IMO.
Firend or Deofe. What did the OB do wrong and what would you have doen differenlty if you were OB?
I wouldn't have wasted my time with a 15 year old streaker and would have used the resources elsewhere.
It's a typo not a spelling mistake.
Obviously the met would only have found out that the streaker was 15 years old by attending the incident, which they did very promptlly. Once they had established the facts of the incident, they obviously let the kid go with a telling off.
I'm all for having a dig at plod, but on this occasion they seem to have done good job in very difficult circumstances and any criticism of the police in this incident is not valid.
On a couple of points of fact, there is no flat rate fine for pitch invasions. There's only one person who "works in HR" at the club anyway and she is unlikely to have any relevant knowledge. The referee reported the incident and we will find out in due course what action is to be taken.
The 16-year-old was not let off by the police and the case is ongoing.
What people may misunderstand about the stewarding is that the gate stewards are there to fulfill a safety function and cannot leave their gate, even if someone hurdles the adjacent barrier en route to the pitch.

you must have cracked a cheeky smile though airman at the streaker surely

Of course. I'm not commenting, just wanted to set the record straight. But for all sorts of reasons the club can't and won't laugh it off.
Please look out for me on Monday evening - I will be the butt naked chap gaining access to the pitch straight after Deon's Pen. I will be wearing the takeover with pride.

Mmmm, I'm quite saddened by this if I'm hearing you correctly Airman...it WAS a bit of youthfull childish fun at the end of the day, no one was hurt and the vast majority of us with a semblance of humour in their viens got varying amounts of humour and a few laughs out of it....do we really have to tow the line here with the 'official line.' Jeezuz this country is becoming a sad place to live in you know...more rules and regulations together with health and safety legislation than any other country on the face of the planet...and that's a bloody indisputable fact Airman.
I realise it's not your call R*** but let's drop it shall we and move on...a bit of pretty harmless fun was had by one and all so why make an epic out of something that's hurt no one and was all over in a matter of a minute or so.
All this 'huffing and puffing' with feigned self righteous indignation is a god damn farce and I sincerely hope the club doesn't go down that road and trot out some stuffy up their arze statement as and when they might be called upon to do so.
Typical 'after the Lord Mayors Show stuff', it's simply dragging the issue out and there's a danger of making the whole incident more of an epic/drama than it ever was.... or indeed meant to be.
I despair at times............. I really do!

I understand what you say Soundas, but Rick does work for t'club and can't be seen to condone this sort of thing.
In this case it was harmless fun, and as we were winning and waiting for the final whistle I thought it funny, but had we been pressing for a goal in those last few seconds I'm not so sure I'd find it amusing. Context I suppose is the key.
Personally I don't really see what more the club could reasonably be expected to do in circumstances like that - or the bottle throwing incident (though I accept that that one is a lot more serious). Ring the pitch with hundreds of stewards? Put up a fence?
Mind you, the FA love a report don't they - and referees just love filling them in!
What happened when Arsenal threw the whole stand and a babys chair on The City of Manchester stadium then? imo if one person throws something it should be him at fault not the club, but if the whole stand throws stuff......
It was all light hearted fun, a 16 year old streaker (yet clothed) and a lucozade bottle thrown on the pitch. I've seen alot, lot worse. But they love an investigation they do, despite them having more important matters to see to.
The club aren't dragging this out. If anyone is dragging it out it is Sam Cherry and his mates who have been setting up facebook pages and posting videos on you tube.
Now I thought it was funny and laughed along at the time. No one was hurt BUT there are, as Airman Brown pointed out, consequences.
There is no point saying it's the club's fault. The boy ran on the pitch and he has to accept the consequences of that. Or maybe all the moaning I read on here about feckless youth who don't take responsibility for their actions blah blah blah doesn't count here.
If the club is fined or has to pay for extra stewards will you pay? Maybe we could have a CL whip round. The club can't just drop it as the police and FA are involved. If it was just up to the club I'm sure they'd ban him for some games and leave it at that but it's gone beyond that.
Maybe next times some kids, just having some fun like, graffiti your car you can laugh it and the repair bill off. I mean in your words "it WAS a bit of youthfull childish fun at the end of the day, no one was hurt" so why complain?
but it was funny very funny on a cold night with a poop performance on the field the fans needed entertaining and all except Large found it heart warmingly funny,
To be honest i think if you asked the ref he found it funny,
Airman cracked a smile as i would have thought did everyone at the club.
the thing is there is a consequence to this action and none of us at the time were thinking about it, maybe master cherry will get fined and have to contribute to any financial implications imposed on the club.
I did say there was a 'danger' of the club escalating the incident and sounding stuffy and snotty nosed about this and not that they neccessarily will (let's hope not anyway)....as Airman indicated they may find themselves in a position where they 'have to' make a warning type statement or similar....perfectly understandable why (in order to appease The FA)....I just don't like the thought of them doing it or being coerced by The FA into doing so if they don't deem it neccessary...........country's gone mad and The FA joined the asylum some years back as far as I'm concerned.
I also wasn't expecting Airman to say anything that would put him in an awkward position....I think all of us realise he is limited in what he can and cannot say....he's a bit like the Royal Family in that respect.........LOL!!
Henry, where did I say it was the clubs fault, of course it wasn't......... but it WILL BE their fault if they get all indignant and stuffy merely to tow THE FA line..........I hope they don't and that they at the very least retain an air of humour about the whole thing to all concerned.
Anyway...the irony is that me going on about it isn't exactly helping the incident to go away is it,..........so I'll leave it at that.
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Two aspects on this.
1. Ref included in his report to FL so club has to rtespond accordingly.
2 police got involved so taken out of club hands in that respect.
It was 2nd time in 3 home games club reported by ref to FL (lucozade bottle v spanners). Club on dangerous ground
Arnt Lucozade bottles plastic!!! Hang on....now you mention it i remember seeing a piece of onion from a manky burger on the pitch the other night aswell, does that count?

Hear, hear! Well said that man

We need to stop this sort of thing happening again..
Whatever next..?
Camels and Llamas...?
