I absolutely agree JIMMy85 about the way the film is shot and about the brilliant almost unbearable soundtrack. Did you, like me, find the camp break out sequence less convincing than the rest of the film?
It's both beautiful and haunting and aims to make you think about your own relationship with our environment. Worth 97 minutes of your time if you like wildlife, nature or movies which make you think.

Rated 8.6 though . Not bad . Who's going to give it a go first ?
Just back from 'The Nice Guys'. Something of a deconstruction/parody of 70s detective movies, but played almost entirely straight by the actors. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling clearly having a good time and give good performances, Shane Black script so expect lots of sarcasm and banter. Probably going to be one of those films you find completely hilarious or not remotely funny at all, I am in the former camp luckily.
This is a lot darker than the first film and all the better for it. Good story, excellent FX, enjoyable characters. Does help if you are a fan of the original stories.
Grimsby is utterly stupid. The characters are completely unbelievable, the plot is ridiculous, the acting is nothing to write home about (although Mark Strong, as always, is solid). The strongest parts of the film, as is often the case with Sasha Baron Cohen, are the shock factor moments. Which really shouldn't be enough should it? Everything about this film tells me I should hate it. Apart from the above points, it's deliberately and gratuitously controversial, shocking and grotesque (with no obvious justification for being so), it has no real depth and looks like a film made for Cohen's own amusement.
However, I did enjoy it.
I pissed myself laughing - I was laughing out loud on multiple occasions. Don't know why, maybe just because nobody's done that sort of stuff before. Maybe I just found the silly/disgusting/cringey/farcical nature of it funny. I kind of feel a bit guilty for enjoying it. But enjoy it I did.
Now I feel the need to have a shower. If you've seen it, you'll know what I mean.

Ah, there was a plot? I completely lost track of what was going but found very funny in parts...........
This took a while to get into gear for me. Once it got moving, it was an interesting enough film, though with no real plot twists or anything to take it to gripping. Sacha Baron Cohen was a stand out for me, despite the presence of Johnny Depp. For me the first one was better, and while I pnly read the book once, and that over forty years ago, I don't think anything from the book beyond the characters themselves made it into the film. Still, my kids loved it
Finally got to watch 'Rams' currently available on BFI player, I really enjoyed it, full of characters that fill the Shropshire Hills where I live. Very moving with some laughter as well, great film.

No I didn't, but in hindsight it was a bit of a movie ending.
I am biased, as we are distributing the film, but quite possibly the best film we have released to date. Directed by the guy who directed Gomorrah and Romanzi Criminale TV series that are on Sky Atlantic.
Out in cinemas on 24th June and on Demand with iTunes, Sky, Vubiquity, Curzon Home Cinema. I URGE you to watch it if you like Italian Cinema at it's finest!

I went to see Warcraft earlier this month. I don't play the game but I'm a big Duncan Jones fan so although I rarely watch fantasy films I went to see this one on the opening day. I enjoyed most of it despite all the negative reviews from the critics.
Anyway, the film that I really recommend is another one: Pride. I liked the actor Ben Schnetzer who played Khadgar in Warcraft and then saw Pride in his filmgraphy list. I'd actually seen the trailer before but didn't know it was based on true events. It was about a few gay activists helping miners during their strike in the 1980's. It was such an incredible and inspiring story and I was in tears by the end of the film. It's hands down the best film I've watched this year. I just can't believe I've never ever heard or read anything anywhere about this Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners group. I think this remarkable story is yet another proof that you're a great country with some truly great people. The passion and enthusiasm for helping others, the support different groups of people offer each other, they're the things that my country (where the only thing everyone cares about these days is money) has been lacking for years.
It's a 2014 film and if you haven't seen it, just go find and watch it. I think it's something you should all be proud of. https://youtu.be/khbz4ncVY9o
saw "embrace of the serpent" very good. if you like films where not much happens, i.e. no car chases or the hero being surrounding by 3000 insurgents and only one bullet left in his chamber but still manages to kill them all.
Although there is absolutely nothing supernatural about Green Room there is no doubt I'm my mind that this film should come under the horror category. This is a film about a punk rock band who , while down on their luck , get offered a gig in a neo Nazi club deep in the backwoods of Oregon and after witnessing an act of violence backstage things go downhill very quickly. To say Green Room is gory is an understatement. It's full on , and in a good way. This isn't just violent for violence sake it has a structure and some really good acting. Patrick Stewart is unlike anything you have seen him do before and Joe Cole ( Peaky Blinders) is good too but the best performance is tinged with sadness. The lead actor is Anton Yelchin who died last week in real life when he was crushed by his own car. I really enjoyed Green Room and if you don't mind a whole heap of blood then I can highly recommend it.
A couple of years a go it was Scandinavian TV that was all the rage and now , thanks to the brilliant Gomorrah it seems to be Italian language mafia based TV that is the in thing. Suburra is in the same mould as Gomorrah although the protagonists are a little higher up the food chain . This is the story a politician who gets caught up with the local mafia when he asks someone to help him sort a problem that involves a dead girl in his hotel room. Firstly let me say this film looks stunning. The cinematography is breathtaking at times and it's complimented by a fantastic soundtrack from M83. There are some good performances especially from Pierfrancesco Favino (Malgradi ) and Alessandro Borghi (number 8) who I think we might be seeing more of in the future. Suburra is a film that will stay in the memory for a very long time. Highly Recommended.

Just sat through The Secret In Their Eyes. Nowhere near as bad as I figured it would be when I first heard the 2009 movie was being remade. In fact it's quite watchable, especially if you've not seen the original.
That said, it's really bland. It's got a slower pace, less flair from the director and only Chiwetel Ejiofor compares to the original cast. Roberts does her best, Kidman is uninspiring. Hank from BB is...Hank from BB. The best thing about the original was the leads, who were utterly compelling and believable.
Ultimately, if you're ok with watching a movie with subtitles, there's no reason to watch the remake instead of the original.
Also, I'm halfway through The Visit right now. My god it's hilariously bad. The granny spazzing out is so funny.
Sixth Sense and Unbreakable are 5 star movies. It's so hard to believe the same man made the likes of this and Lady in the Water. And The Happening. And The Last Airbender.
Independance day-The resurgence, starting watching at silly o/clock last night but what I saw I thought was good. It wouldn't normally be my sort of film but watch it right through tonight.

I loved the original. I don't think I could stomach another American remake .

I've not watched the original but the trailer for the remake looked interesting to me though. Is it out on DVD/Blu-ray?
Saw The Jungle Book last weekend. Enjoyed it. Graphics are superb. Pretty much stuck to the original story including a couple of the songs even though it's not a musical. Recommended.
Finally got round to seeing this last Saturday, thought it was excellent (my daughter watched half of it from behind her hands)
Usually as we're walking out after a film she asks if we can buy the DVD when it comes out. I asked if she'd enjoyed it and she replied "yes, but please tell me you're not buying the DVD for me"
