Priskin turns down loan move alledgedly

edited January 2010 in General Charlton
Striker Tamás Priskin has turned down the chance to join League One Charlton on loan. The Hungarian has struggled to win a first team place since joining the Blues from Watford for £1.7 million in the summer, scoring only two goals in nine starts and seven sub appearances.
Last week the 23-year-old said that he was determined to stay with Town and prove himself and knew nothing of reports that he was set to be sold to fund the Blues' January signings: "I’ve only seen this in the press and if it’s up to me, I'm not going anywhere.”
Boss Roy Keane has already sent fellow fringe players Colin Healy, Liam Trotter and Tommy Smith out on loan to Falkirk, Millwall and Brentford respectively in order for them to play competitive games and the club are willing to allow other non-regulars to make similar moves.
Priskin, who has been capped 24 times by Hungary, scoring seven goals, is contracted to the Blues until June 2012.

  • Played against us for Preston at the Valley if I remember

Seems like a decent player especially at our current level (which is really low and the lowest for years before Ooah Aargh reminds us again).
  • hmmmm, would have liked him to have joined. Always thought he looked pretty decent...and would be good backup/comeptition for Mooney should his injury keep niggling.
  • The fact that Keane prefers Stern John over him speaks volumes.

Yes, but maybe more about Keane than Priskin.
  • Ha !
Theres a "Trotter" at Millwall ?
  • I think he would have been a good signing, especially at this level. shame he wont leave there, but can see his point as he will still feature for keane
  • The year we went down from the Prem, he tore us apart in the first half at Watford, the 2-2 game when Kevin Missbie hit a shot wide of the target in the last minute.

I was in the Watford home end that day and was sat directly in line with Lisbie when he missed it. Could've throttled him.
  • Yep, that was the minute I knew we were down, completely fluffed it!
  • yes please to Priskin. Better than anything we've got except maybe Burton. Shows hopefully that we are after another striker, looks like maybe Sodje isn't set to return. With Burton, MacKenzie, Mooney, Dickson the only one I'm happy with is Burton.

    Phew! That's a relief ........ at least there's one.

    ;o)

  • Who does he think he is REJECTING US???!!!

Does he not know we are 3rd in League One?

Lack of ambition on his part.
  • Ipswich mate says it's a lucky escape as priskin as he has a bad attitude and hasn't found any sort of form for ages.
  • Maybe we should go for Lisbie instead...
  • NEVER GO BACK
  • I hear Darren bents available on loan for 50p a week?
  • Don't rate him & don't need him..........unless , again, we aren't being old the full story and someone leaving us !

we already have burton, mooney, dickson. mackenzie, tuna without counting Sodje (whom I don't believe will stay)

we DO need a left winger and a central defender
  • but of those mentioned Golfie :

Dickson - only just back, wasn't in favour before, not exactly in form, will go if we get an offer
Mooney - generally works hard but will never score enough goals imo
MacKenzie - has never been fit for more than one game at a time whilst with us and so can't be relied on
Tuna - about to join Staines Town on loan, good prospect, nowhere near ready yet

so we are left with Burton.
  • we already have burton, mooney, dickson. mackenzie, tuna without counting Sodje (whom I don't believe will stay)

    ..........

Burton - carrying a hernia injury.
McKenzie - not fully fit, can only be used off the bench.
Dickson - impact player, coming off the bench.
Mooney - only on a 28 day extended loan and still returning from injury.
Tuna - one for the future.
Sodje - only here on a short term loan and like Mooney the decision could be out of our hands if his club want him back.

In conclusion if a decent striker is available we shouldn't be too sniffy. I see that Benitez is hinting that Torres might leave Liverpool...

Priskin was the man Youga chopped down en route towards goal when we lost 1-0 to Watford at Vicarage Road last season. Thought he looked fairly useful then.
  • Also scored a decent goal at The Valley last season even though it was not Hudson's finest moment.
