Wycombe v Charlton - Pre match poll, views etc

edited January 2010 in General Charlton
With our resident Preview artiste, Captain WSS, apparently lost at sea, its down to (very) Petty Officer AFKA to don the captain's hat and take hold of the ship's wheel....

Charlton not only embark of their maiden voyage of the new decade, they will also be dipping their competitive toe at the first port of call, Adams Apple Park, for their very first time (though they have been for a summer paddle there twice before).

With Leeds building a healthy gap between us, and Norwich motoring at a rate of knots, it is vital Charlton get back to winning ways as quickly as possible. And with Wycombe gaining just one point from their previous three home games, Saturday is the idea opportunity.

The extended break has allowed Richardson and Youga to near fitness, though it is unclear if they will be available for selection. One player who will be is Dave Mooney, his loan having been extended.

What team would you pick ?

How do you see it going ?

Will the Mighty Reds return be blessed with smooth waters, or will a rudderless performance see us further cast adrift of the top two ?

Anyway, i'll quit my nautical jibing as its starting to go a bit overboard.

  • 2010 is the Year of Positive thinking will vote for Charlton to win for the rest of the season. Think we'll edge it by the odd goal in three.
  • We need to start winning on the road a lot more often if we want automatic promotion. Unfortunately I still cannot see past a draw.
  • Need to win. Don't care how! Need to stop a slippery slide back down the table and get back into the top 2 - I hate the playoffs....

    Sam- Semedo-bailey-Racon or waggy
    deon _ mooney
  • OS says Richardson and Youga are both still injured.

Not that it will stop us from recording a 9-2 win - and we'll come from two goals down to snatch the points.

Semedo with three hat-tricks to take his tally for the season to 10.

I'd go with that, Youga / Richardson if fit..and personally Racon for me over Waggy (to start anyway)

    I'll go 3-1 to us
  • Head says 2-1 to us, heart says it'll be another draw. Wycombe played Leeds off the park last week so maybe they aren't as bad as we think they are.
  • 0-1 Mooney
  • Away win...

  • Like the look of that side BFR. Have we played like that this season?

If Youga's not fit, push Basey back to LB and play Racon LM, I know he does not like playing there but he can't get into the middle and impressed at LM at Leeds. Also adds quality that I am not sure Waggy has.

wycombe look to be leaving this division going the wrong way and in bottom 4 of the current form tells you they aren't too good a side. we have only lost twice all season and have had plenty of time now to get our players back up to full fitness. if we really are going to go up then this game is one that we will win comfortably and with a sell out away end roaring them on after a very short journey round the m25. we'll be leaving with all the points.the players will be really up for it after norwich went above us and look to close the gap again.

    1-3
  • Got a good feeling about this. Fancy a comfortable 3-0 win.
  • Shelvey Would get the nod this Saturday for me

    RE

    Ozzzy Dailey llera basey
    sam bailey semi shelv
    burton mcKenzie

think mooney will come of the bench with 30mins to go
  • Elliot
    Elliot Daiily Llera Basey
    Sam Bailey Semedo Shelvey
    Burton Dickson/McKenzie

Can see us winning this 2-0
  • Dickson played well against Brentford so contrary to what I put above, I think he deserves another start especially alongide Burton who he has not played with. Mooney may not quite be 100% after his injury so he could be left on the bench, hopefully he won't be needed and can be preserved as we have quite a busy period coming up
  • Wycombe were total and utter cack against Brighton on the 28th December (lost 2-5) but since then they've brought in a new center
half and their target man up front Harrold ? is back from injury (and they did well against leeds apparently) so difficult one to
    predict... 2-1 to us.
  • Yeah target man Matt Harrold, looks like Prince Harry! They are also in process of signing Alex Revell from Southend who may make debut
  • We made hard work of beating them at The Valley. I fear that in their own backyard they may have too much for us.

I hope I am wrong though!

  • COME ON YOU HADDOCK AND CHIP LOVERS!!!

We need a result, simple as that. And my lovely boys will not let me down... 3-0 to the haddocks.
I got a feeling someone will be getting in trouble when the pint pot gets passed round for chucking in 2p's... my lips are sealed?
  • I no longer care.

    Up the Addicks
  • 2-1 Bailey and Mooney
  • Must win game for me, as are the three home games following if we want an automatic spot

nicking it 1-2 with a late winner
  • Due to Seth and Seth Jnr (Paddyp17) going to the game, online update duties fall to others this time. Just realised its a run of four successive games in a couple of weeks....live, nice.
  • ill be on so can always fill in!
