  • I wonder when they will change the pic at the top of the page......
  • one in, out? hmmmm whos next to go?

and if it was sam? does that mean we can only get 1 player to replace him ;-)

    Ideally it will be Moo2
  • If as is said in there they don't want to sell anyone, then nobody will be coming in !!!

Has the Bexleytimes scooped the Newsshopper this week !
  • Philip Parkinson mused
The people on the board are all passionate, probably more so than any supporter, about being successful this season. We're all working together to make sure that we can improve the squad, and keep what we've got, to give us the best possible chance of getting promoted

From this I take it they mean to say "If we don't go up this year we are fooked"

SLP says a couple of clubs are trying to sign him and Parky expects him to go out on loan.

Yes, Newshopper has lost it big time IMHO : - )
  • Although it's good to get players like Moo2 out on loan to reduce the wage bill, I'd rather get a transfer fee for him if we can but I suppose a lot of clubs - even the very best are having to limit how much they spend in the transfer market at the moment. It's also a real shame Moo2 has such a poor attitude because he could definitely do a job for us as a squad player in this division as back up to Richardson/Sam

Not sure about re-signing Akpo to be honest. He looked like a world beater at Yeovil and did OK against Bristol Rovers at home since then I've not been overly impressed with him. He looks lazy and won't run for a ball that's literally two yards away from. I don't know if this is because he's not fully fit yet or whether he just has a poor attitude but like Racon he seems to have a tendency to moan at the referee instead of getting on with play sometimes. Hopefully he'll have a look at his brothers first class attitude if he comes back and takes note. I think Parky's been a fairly good judge of player so far so I'll trust his judgement for now.
  • Akpo worked hard against Swindon when we had 9 men.

He is a big bloke and looks languid which can be misinterpreted as lazy.

He may or may not be a decent option for us but I wouldn't describe him as lazy.

I take it you weren't at the Swindon game then.......Akpo won't run for a ball two yards away?. He was like a cat chasing a bag full of nip once we were down to 9.

As for his brothers first class attitude. If you call a pathetic over the top challenge in an area where he didn't need to make the tackle first class then I guess you are right.

  • I was at the Swindon game and couldn't quite understand why he got a standing ovation as he left the field. True about Sam Sodje's challenge but you can't fault his work rate.

Sorry Red Robin but you are off the mark here. Agree 100% with Clem.
  • Akpo I've been impressed with, but I don't think he's fully fit, or certainly wasn't in his first few games.

Sam Sodje...I think he's going to be one of those players, he'll give you a lot of effort and run all day, but occasionally he'll do something brainless and get himself sent-off, I didn't think that tackle was malicious, just late and ill advised, but that's the way he plays.

Because he ran himself into the ground chasing lost causes. Everyone loves a trier.

Something like 13/14 red cards in his career would suggest you are bang on the money.

although i agree nothing really came of with him that day, i do not think he was lazy for example when he came of he was knackered. maybe he is still getting into shape but i think would be very useful for us even if just as impact sub! but would not say he's lazy at all, just didnt really happen for him that day but he did chase for most thing and generally done well

I just think he's been a bit hit and miss so far but hope he'll improve if he comes back - which I'd welcome because I always rated him when he was at Wednesday. I think the problem is that he's not fully fit yet.
  • Can't say I've noticed Akpo as looking lazy. He's looked a bit of a Donkey at times but not lazy. Not a world beater, but I'd keep him - think he brings something we don't really have and can't see us getting better at the moment. Maybe worth an 18 month contract if we can get him on a free.
  • Hit and miss I'd agree with and quite possibly not fully fit but then say that rather than just calling him "lazy" which is, well, rather lazy.

Agreed. Perhaps I didn't use the right choice of words.
  • Against Swindon Akpo was our only outlet when we went down to 9 men and he ran himself into the ground.
He was probably trying to make up for his brothers stupid tackle but how can anyone who saw the game say he is lazy .
He definitely deserved his standing ovation. They were all heroes in my eyes except for the two sent off.

  • Sam sodje is a lot dirtier of a player than you lot let on - that was a two footed lunge and when he purposely stepped on a players hand?
