Decimal odds tell you what the pay out will be, if you put £1 on at evens you will have a £2 return i.e. in decimal form 2.0

ooooh i get ya......so 1.01 is the same as 1/10?

If this is true I'd laugh. Why would an individual risk a serious chunk of change with no prospect of winning anything much worth having.
  • Rank outsiders Malawi drubbing Algeria from England's group at the moment, on Eurosport. 30 minutes to go, so anything could happen

It is true. Seen the print screen of it. People do it reguarly, but the kind of people who make a living from it. If you keep winning 50 quid on a few 'nailed on' bets during the day your making a fairly good profit. Obvsiously this was a freak result that wouldn't have even crossed the person's mind with 11 mins left.

Some people even have software on their accounts to automatically back/lay things that are at 1.00/1.01

What a tard. Only bet what you can afford to lose. I suspect spending money on education would be a waste for this chap.

It was nice to see Hameur looking dejected.

I was listening to a summing up of the tournament and the journo made the point that Algeria were not concentrating on it as most of their players are in competitive leagues and will be playing in the world cup. The performance bears them out, as they were terrible. If England can't sort out a team that Bouazza gets picked for, then something's wrong.

  • From waht i can gather CAF have expelled Tog from the competition, rather than simply acknowledgijng their withdrawl followijng the act of terrorism, which seems harsh and petulant under the circumstances.

Pointless even thinking about it, tbh. Governance of African football is an utter mess - nothing anyone does ever seems to make any sense.

Come on. With Capello in charge we will beat them comfortably.

    Actually, turns out it isn't...

    The guy has come clean:

"Hi. Erm, I don't know what to say really.

I guess I'll start with the truth, this was meant as a joke between myself and a certain member (!) on FM-View, I wasn't about much yesterday - believe it or not students do have to work - but come on today to see 135,000 views on this thread, facebook pages, mentions on radio shows and emails from The Sun wanting my story. I am beginning to think I should have placed this bet, I'd be in profit with the donations as well... :tumbleweed:

Nah in all seriousness, I haven't lost or gained a penny, I haven't ever bet on the Africa Cup of Nations and don't wish to start now. The joke started on MSN with myself and another member when we saw it was 4-0 and I jokingly said about going all in on it, when it finished 4-4 I couldn't resist posting up that fake screenshot that was on the Betfair forums (also fake) about 20 minutes before I posted here.

Sorry people, but there's no big story here, just a joke that's spread like wildfire while I've been away. Seemingly killed the server too? Apologies admin. A donation fund, however much I'd appreciate it, won't be necessary, despite the kind words of some people. I'm sure you would've raised that £440 £44 I was desperately chasing with ease!

Must admit, this thread has some comedy replies though."
