Football to me and 'most' fans is about chasing the dream and chasing it until the moment arrives when it's no longer a reality.
Never give up, never show or think you're inferior or less able.
I'm by nature a glass half full person...it doesn't mean that one has rose coloured spectacles but that you dream a different dream from you glass half empty bods.
I know what I'm going to say next will be thought of as a bit OTT by some of you but here goes anyway.
Winston Churchill never ever gave up the thought that we would pull through and by god we did. Even in our darkest hour he never showed anything but The Bull Dog Spirit....and you should never give the oppo an inch of comfort by shitting on your own by bigging up the oppo, any place anywhere, anytime...never in a million years would I do that.
I know things aren't 100% perfect around the place but you must give the impression that we can do it and that we need fear no one.
Christ we've only lost twice all season...that's fantastic stuff.I can bet you anything that Norwich and the rest of them(Leeds included) are somewhat apprehensive of us and long may that be the case...Norwich, fook 'em....let them worry about us.
We shall go on to the Covered End, we shall win at The Valley , we shall win at the Chelsea and the Orient, we shall play with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our goalmouth, whatever the cost may be, we shall play at the Stamford Beaches, we shall play on the away grounds, we shall play at the Vetch Field and Edgar Street, we shall play at Elland Road; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this club or a large part of it were suspended and injured, then our tactics beyond comprehension, armed and guarded by Phil Parkinson, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, Charlton Athletic, with all its power and might, steps forth to the Championship and the liberation of the Defeatists and Gloomsters.

[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]despite the rumours, despite what RM might have said, Norwich won't sell in January. They have a better chance of promotion than us for one reason, and one reason only, two in form strikers. As we have Bailey chipping in with goals, they have Hoolihan. Whereas we have Burton they have Holt and Brown. It pains me to say it but if I were to put a tenner on it now it would be on them. Also, I really don't fancy our last eight games. If we go into those neck and neck with Norwich then I fear we will lose out. If that is defeatist etc then so be it, I'd rather say it is realistic.
Jeezuz, that's 'the most' depressing post I've read on here in yonks.
Can't believe a true hot blooded Addick would even countenance those thoughts, yet alone put them in print....you've got some front Large I'll give you that!!
Let's give up folks shall we, as Large says it's all over already, so what's the f'ing point.
Large why not get your arse down to Sparrows Lane and give them your take on things....they'd feck you right off matey....and boy am I glad I don't sit anywhere near you, how depressing would that be.
Gordon Bennett !!! I put down an opinion, shared by many, many others believe me, and it's depressing. No, I'll tell you what is depressing. Like the other thread where someone's wife is going into the Marsden (all the best), like Golfie and I finding out this afternoon that our Mum probably has a Cancerous growth. FFS, why don't you grow up. I'm generally a glass half full guy, and believe it or not, I don't let much bother me, but I'm also not a bury my head in the sands and all will be okay type either. I feel I am just being realistic. I said at the beginning of the season that scoring goals will be the key to getting out of this division and anyone who finishes above us will not have scored less goals than us. And who said anything about giving up. If I had given up I'd be returning my Walsall tickets like others have done but no I'm already planning on being in work two hours early, working my lunch-hour too and then being able to leave around 3.30pm to get a tube to somewhere like Cockfosters so the also much-maligned Golfie can pick me up on route to Birmingham so that we can hopefully cheer the Addicks onto victory, three days after a trip to Wycombe. Given up have I ? Bollocks I have. Oh, by the way, I was still schlepping it to Reading, Swansea, Coventry etc last season when we were bottom of the League by a mile and even the players (the one's that would apparently feck me right off) had given up so by all means come on here and criticise my points of view but don't question my support or accuse me of having given up.

Sorry Large but you(and a very few others) often have an odd way of showing it is all I can say. This board certainly does have a few gloom merchants.....I'm sure you know that you're thought as being one of them as I'm far from being the only person to have pointed that out to you....just a bit strange that you don't see it in yourself.
You may well go to a lot of away games (as do quite a number of us Large) and be supportive from that angle but that doesn't seem to coincide with your negative attitude.
"Shared by many many others you say", well I know countless Addicks and I've not heard that negativity from any of them....not a single one....so that (if you don't mind me saying so) is bullshit!
I think we're as good as anyone and will be clearly putting out that message to all and sundry until the moment comes when we either succeed or fall on our sword, that's when I'll put the boot in if neccessary but not half way through a season when were right up there with a fantastic shout and only lost two games FFS!.
That's what being a supporter should mean...I don't want to f'ing hear how great Norwich are...let them worry about us...I'm not going to 'big them up' with an opinion or otherwise....even if I thought it I simply wouldn't air it, that's totally the wrong vibe to be putting out at this stage.
I don't want to labour this point any further really as I've had my say to you and possibly the odd one or two others that are that way inclined...I have a very strong opinion about negativity in sport and the way it can undermine what others are trying to achieve and believe in...must toodle off now as I've got some important 'growing up' to do.
there is a lot I could respond to there but I'm not going to bother. We are all entitled to our opinion and time will tell. We'll just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Exactly.
