decisions even themselves out

edited January 2007 in General Charlton
Like hell do they.

That is home and away we've been done against Arsenal.

That is THE worst decision I think I have ever seen. How he can give that as a red card I will never know. El Kak cleared the ball before Van Persie would have got there anyway.

BIG TEAM bottler.

  • El Kak cleared the ball about 5 mins before Van persie would of got there.

Shocking decision, almost as bad as the Fulham one.
  • I have played football for a number of years but am still a little confused with this offside thing. Van Persie was about 2 yards offside when the initial shot is taken. The deflected shot is then tipped onto the bar & Van Persie is still in front of Sankofa. Surely as soon as he motions forward to the ball he is offside, not according to the Referee last night.
  • Keters

The players has to touch the ball now before he will be flagged in situations like that hence the lateness of offside decisions.
  • Surely shirley though he is effectively blocking our player from getting in a clearing challenge though. Gotta admit though the 2nd Pen is an absolute stone-waller & how Diawarra never got sent off I'll never know, second yellow card offence for the penalty & then boots the ball 60 yards upfield.
  • Yeah agreed on the Diawara.
  • It's "interesting" reading the comments of our friends in the press on the penalty incident. Aside from quoting Pardew none of them seem to comment on whether it was a sending off or not - they clearly don't think we warrant them falling foul of big bad Arsene! Tossers.
  • sun said it was a definately penalty and sending off.....and what a great game riley had....
  • shouldn't we be mre hacked off with sankofa who needlessly brought him down rather that the poor ref who was never really going to do anything different?
  • i'd rather the dodgey decisions happened in last nights game, where we were always gonna lose, than in a game we have a chance in like the fulham game....doh!!

  • Apologies - have just seen this in the pun

"Van Persie reacted quickest to the rebound and was just about to stroke the ball into the empty net when he was bundled over by Osei Sankofa. Ref Mike Riley looked almost apologetic as he reached for his red card yet he had no choice but to send the Charlton man packing."

Just about to stoke the ball home, eh? Must've missed that.
  • Peakey -

Yeah Sankofa deserves stick for giving the penalty away but the decision to red card him is WRONG WRONG WRONG - Riley panicked - he should have taken a second and seen that El Kak would have got there befor eRVP and cleared the ball.

Poor ref - yeah you got that spot on mate he was poor
  • Come on troops let's not use up fuel on such an irrelevant decision.
These blokes are in a different class to us when they are at home so we were always long odds and Pards knew it.
Lets save our breath for that Palace twat Southgate and his Boro mates - we owe them bigtime from last years FAC QF so lets focus on that instead.
The game was live here this morning and watching Arsenal at their best, even against the team you love, is truly a beautiful thing. They are great to watch and amongst the best English (ha!) sides I have seen.
  • arf,i didn't mean it in the sense that i felt sorry for him.i have just spent the morning burying him to some chirpy gooners only for them to say that he owes them for man utd decisions.he paid some of his debt back last night.
  • What is it with Arsenal fans and the chip on their collective shoulders?
    Tossers to a man.
  • they've got the big chip on their shoulder that their manager has...such a graceful winner mr wenger was last night even shook pardews hand
  • How many decisions have we got this season, that we shouldn't have had?
  • Diawarra not getting sent off after a second yellow card offence for the second pen last night then hoofing the ball 60 yards upfield petulantly straight after?
