NICKY Bailey believes hard work was the key for Charlton as they turned around their recent poor form at the weekend.
The Addicks skipper produced one of his best displays of the season in the 5-1 thrashing of MK Dons, a much-needed result following a league defeat at Carlisle and cup exits at the hands of Northwich and Southampton.
Bailey admits the players were feeling the pressure after the dip in form, but the former Southend midfielder is delighted that they responded in the ideal manner, securing a win which strengthened their position in the automatic promotion places.
“We had a difficult run of three games and the results were very disappointing,” said Bailey. “There were a few heads dropping in training. Then we went 1-0 down on Saturday and it could have gone one of two ways. Thankfully, it went our way and we put in a good performance in the end.
“Everyone came out and showed they wanted to give everything for Charlton. The manager said to work hard for each other and to show the fans that we want to play and we want to wear the red shirt. All of the players did that."

I know words are just words, but it is great to hear the manager emphasising these things to the players.
