  • [cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Quite amusingly, according to a lad in a group of non-Charlton fans sitting behind us:

"Did you know that Tamar Tuna cannot speak a word of English. I don't rate him, i think he is proper s**t. I don't get it. Although in fairness, although in fairness, although in fairness, i'd still play him instead of Izale McLeod"

That had me in stitches for about 10 minutes. His timing of it was perfect as well, ''Although in fairness''.

Those blokes sitting behind were a mixture of scouts and youth players from another side, they must have slated every player on the pitch apart from one who was obviously a mate.

    It's Turkish he can't speak isn't it?
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Nadou, just wondered if you were like me in thinking i'm starting to doubt whether Mambo is going to push on to the next level ?

A couple of years ago he looked raw, but carried huge potential if he could smooth certain aspects of his game out. Now i'm starting to think that he might not make the next step up.
I didn't see Mambo last night, but have seen him a few times now. There's always been potential there but I've never been sure he'll make it. He might well end up leaving and work his way back up the leagues, like Turner has, though not necessarily to the Prem or even Championship. Get the feeling he'll really benefit from gaining experience and not reach his peak until he's a lot older, rather than making an impact with us. Really hard to tell as a lot of the time he's been solid, but then he's bigger and stronger than most players he's up against.

Cousins has been called a midfielder on the FA site, perhaps is another player who they aren't yet sure of his best position. He'll be a first year u18 next season, so is two years behind Mambo.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him go out on loan again. he's much rated by the staff as 'an honest lad who wants to learn'. Personally, I'm not sure how good he'll become, either AFKA.
  • On what I saw when Mambo made his debut for Welling a long way from ready but report said that he got better every game so maybe it is the learning process that he needed. In the short he played v Barnet he seemed OK, if not outstanding, against a decent league 2 side.

Also as a young but big bloke he may still be growing and that might effect him.

Would be good be get him out on loan again to get more game time.
  • PP on Mambo on OS today

"It's something we'll address next week," stated Parkinson. "The loan window ends but you can still extend existing loans."

While new faces appear to have been ruled out by Parkinson, he revealed that there could be a couple of outgoings on a loan basis in the next few days, with Yado Mambo possibly linking up with Dover Athletic on work experience.

Second-year scholar Mambo, who enjoyed a similar switch to Welling United earlier this season before making his Charlton bow in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Barnet in early October, could be in the Dover squad in time for Saturday's FA Trophy clash with Dartford.

"Yado might go out again - possibly to Dover - but it's easier with scholars as you can send them out a game at a time," said Parkinson. "If you do get any injuries, you can call them back.

"I haven't had any calls about my players but as you get closer to that deadline there's a likelihood that the phone might ring. There's not that many players we'd be willing to send out on loan but Alex Stavrinou is one.

"He's a good young player who's good enough to play League football, and his pathway has been blocked slightly because we've got so many good midfielders here."

That's a point, he's not even turned pro yet. Not sure how often he trains with the first team squad.

Would be interesting to see how Stavrinou does out on loan as well. Always done ok when I've seen him, though it's hard to tell if he'll make the first team.
  • Saw Mambo and Cousins last month. Cousins already is a better prospect than Mambo. Mambos distribution and first touch didnt seem good enough.
  • Mambo out to loan to Dover, playing Saturday.

    Best of luck Yads!
