Swindon was the one on Grand National day when Steve Jones scored?
I watched Royal Athlete romp home at 20-1 (you beauty), then spent the afternoon waving at the mugs getting soaked on the terraces from dryness of the Main Stand!
[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]Did anyone get to the West Brom away match in the FA Cup circa 1989/1990?
Yes. was there that day. West Brom goal was going wide till it hit a puddle. Mike Salmon made his debut that day I believe.
[cite]Posted By: Penfolds Perm[/cite]Nottingham Forest away circa late 1980s,lost 4-0 as far as I can remember, open terrace and absoloutely chucked it down. Happy memories.
Last game of the season. We'd already stayed up by beating Derby (I think) at home the week before. Also memorable for some bloke being so pissed that he couldn't be bothered to go to the toilet and just stood in the middle of the terrace and went!.

Great Days.
Swindon were trying to charge for those plastic poncho things that day. Remember it well. Was like a monsoon in the first half. The wind was so strong by the end of the game I was completely dry.
Thought the Forest Away game was the 2nd of the season.......Drew against Sheff.Wed and the game after was the Mark Stuart Old Trafford game.
And, Yes, was also at the PuddleGate Match.

Agreed - I thought it was early season.
The early season one was midweek and we got absolutely battered. That would have 1986. The one where is bucketed down was definitely the last game of the season and it poured down for the whole of the first half. 1989 I believe.
either way, early season (aug) or late season (may) there is always a chance the sun will dry you out...........not much chance in late November !!!!!!!!

Wasent that the debut of VFR?
Was in the seats in the top tier for that one..........Dry as a bone....lol[/quote]
Drove upto this one in a newish XR3i which was my boyracer pride and joy. Definately a Saturday.Poured down all the way up there.Put an addick scarf out the window as you do and the end balled up and chipped all the paint off the rear quarter panel. Got wet, lost 4-0,cost me 275 quid for a paint job. All in the cause !!!

Were you to the left of the away end (when facing the pitch) ? The cheeky bastards there even had a Charlton flag! Still, Steve Jones 1-0 right at the end and singing Palace reject to George Ndah more than made up for it!!
