Five things we learnt this week

edited November 2009 in General Charlton
1. The Sunday broadsheets really aren't interested in League 1 football. Not even a single report or round up in the Sunday Times. Friendly internationals at Football and Rugby given pages of coverage but nothing on us. Such is the event driven media these days and it can only get worse.

2. The team is able to produce some outstanding football and score goals. Maybe we knew that already or had just started to doubt it after some woeful defeats and some hard fought but low scoring draws. Five goals and more tellingly five different scorers tell their own story. The question is does a team need a 20 goal striker to go up (Bristols Rovers had Lambert but didn't go up) or is better to spread the load around.

3. Over 17,000 people still want to see Charlton play. Given that just under 1,000 were MK Dons fans that means over 16,000 home tickets. To be honest it didn't look like that many in the ground but the terrible weather and terrible recent performances might have meant a few ST and other ticket holders staying in doors.

4. There is a plan B and maybe even a C. 442 and Bailey switching plus adding the Iwelumo/Kandol style striker that Parky has often played with in Sodje 2 suggest that the style can and will be changed. When, where and against whom will remain an open question for the rest of the season.

5. "Monetise" is a word. Used in the programme to describe the process of bringing in more income from the OS which we learn is about to be re-vamped for the first time since Scott Parker was at the club.

Apologies to AFKA but I thought this was such a good feature it was a shame to not keep it going.

It wasn't big but there was a round up under a headline involving Charlton.
