MISCELLANEOUS STATS

MK Dons committed the most fouls (19) and had the most bookings (5) against Charlton this season.

Charlton have the joint third best home record in the division, winning 6 and drawing 2 of their 8 league games. Huddersfield and Leeds hold identical records, but Huddersfield have scored an incredible 26 goals in those 8 games (3.25 per game), while Leeds have scored 18 and Charlton 17.

Nicky Bailey's performance on Saturday was the 2nd highest rated performance by a Charlton player this season, behind Lloyd Sam's performance at Tranmere away.

Charlton are third in the away table, behind Leeds and MK Dons. Charlton are one of only 7 teams to hold a positive goal difference away from home.

Norwich are the form team of the division, winning 6 of their last 7 league games. Millwall have not lost in their last 7 games.

Saturday’s opponents Yeovil have lost just once in their last 8 league games, and have a home record of P8 W4 D3 L1. However, they have been scored first in only 31% of their games, and have been leading at HT only 19%.

Charlton have not repeated the same scoreline when away so far this season.

Gus Poyet became the 13th Brighton manager in 12 years last week, the most managers a club has had in the Football League within that time span. Southampton are 2nd with 11 managers.

Comments

  • Back on 2pts per game. Lovely.
  • great stats as ever.

Did the ref really book five of their players? Thought he should have booked more earlier on.

58% possession tells its own story.

I would have given Sam two assists on Sat. 4 for the season seems low IMHO.

Have to say over 900 is a decent turnover for a club with "no real fans". Must have all come up from SW London ; - )

I gave him an assist for Burton's, but not for Bailey. They key touch for Bailey' came from the defender flicking it up for him to nod in.

I think that is a bit harsh. I think the goal resulted directly from the pacey run and low cross from Sam that they were unable to defend properly. If the defender did not get a touch it would have been tapped in by either Bailey or Mooney.
  • I reckon it should go before the dubious assists panel.
  • Its a grey area i'll admit, but i've been trying to keep it consistent with only awarding an assist where it has direct influence. In that case, you could argue that Bailey's long free kick for the first was an assist, for example.
  • Also, do we need a "Red cards" section after McLeod's retrospective red against Northwich?

Football League site says Sam has 6 assists in the league this season. Also gives Shelvey only 5, but Burton 5 rather than 4.
  • i was using some of the Football League stuff at first, but i don't find it to be fully accurate.
  • some Yeovil stats

Yeovil won at home to Southend last week and with just 1 defeat in 8, their home record appears decent but .... Charlton's visit is the first time they have hosted a team currently in the top half of the table.

They have lost all three games played against top six sides (away from home of course)

A quarter (24%) of their goals conceded were in the five minutes before half-time.

lol thats bit harsh on afka!

Great stats as ever AFKA, i for one will not be dis-agreeing with any but then again i dont really look into that much detail. but love this feature and about time nicky bailey got MOM really, although is only time playing in his favoured position
  • I often use an instant marks out of ten system with the people I work with, the system we understand is:
    10 once a year brilliant
    9 excellent
    8 very good
    7 good
    6 average
    5 below average
    4 poor
    3 minging
    2 embarrassing
    1 once a year dreadful

Ince thinks they were the better team for 60minutes, easy to see with the above stats.
  • Possession...............58%........42%

That is an unusually big difference - for every 10 minutes of possession they had, we had nearly 14.

That's more or less how I see it too, Seth. It gives a defined standard to apply.
I've never quite understood the need to give half marks (eg 7.5) if the above standard is applied.

    Each to their own though.

Likewise, marking of referees must actually be applied according to a strict code, including wearing official kit and making of certain pre-match routines, apart from actual performance during the match itself.
  • apart from the odd horror game, most of us most of the time only use 5 to 9 - that's just half the range - indeed people usually have all players within a range of just two points, hence the preference for half marks.
