Parky considering another loanee

edited November 2009 in General Charlton
according to the SLP, a striker before the loan window shuts. I'd agree as long as it means Burton gets to have his op straight away. Otherwise, no thanks.

  • Depends who it is.

I predict a Kandol/Iwelumo style big man to lead the line.
  • A goalscorer would be nice
  • very limited geting anyone from a Prem league team to say yes to dropping so far dwon-- unless Parky has a mate he can ask.
  • Perhaps he is looking to Loan back a player we have out on loan as that is the only way we can get around the current constratints of the loan system, it's probably Chris Dickson. (God I hope not)

I don't agree with this unless he's better than McLeod, Fleetwood and Dixon ...

.... so in other words I probably do agree ;-)

does how many players you have loaned out affect how many you can loan in?
  • When does the loan window shut?

That's what I want. We need that option, and Burto needs his op. Just as long as we use a player like that properly, rather than just hoofing it up to him. Get crosses in, get him holding up the ball and setting up McKenzie/Mooney and midfielders getting forward.

    Yes Drogba would do :-)
  • And if we can't get him, Kandol?
  • Akinde from Brizzle might be an option, he looks handy.

  • Chris Dickson, we need a goalscorer. Imo with Burton out while he had an op, Leon and Dicko could form a really good partnership. Kandol is not good enough for Leeds, why should he be good enough for us?
  • The over used but often very accurate phrase "couldn`t score in a brothel" certainly applies to all our front players so as long as the striker Parky has in mind has two legs and a head then we will be better off than we are now.

I don't really rate Kandol but we could do with that type of player.

Leeds are better than us and we don't have a striker that offers us what Kandol would. I think Kandol would walk into any other side's attack in this division barring perhaps Southampton.
  • Would Leeds lend to us given that, theoretically anyway, we are rivals for the promotion places?

Yes I know we lent Dickson to Bristol Rovers but is arguable as to whether they are genuinely top 6 in this division.
  • Shearer looked like he could still play a bit when I saw him on TV the other night.

A lad who plays with my son on Saturdays has got 6 in the last 2 games - he's only 8 though.

But both might be better than what we have.

Anyway - I thought Shelvey played up front these days. I was called a TWAT (in capitals no less) by someone on here for thinking he played in midfield recently.

Great player saw him play for Ebbsfleet in that Fa Trophy final tall and quite quick. He went to Wcyombe on loan last year i think, here is one of his goals:

0:46 in ingore all the sh!te at the start :)
  • Please be Akinde. Should have bought him from Ebbsfleet at the time we bought Fleetwood from Forest Green. Granted Fleetwood scored more goals but Akinde is a better all round player (if a little rough around the edges) and his loan spell at Wycombe suggests that he has plenty to offer. Unless he has changed substantially since his time at the Fleet he has the physical attributes, and ability to hold the ball, to play up on his own during Burton's absence. It must be clear to all and sundery that Mooney looked lively as part of a pair but was painfully inadequate as a lone striker.
  • Barnard on loan then bought in Jan, with Mcleod going the other way as part of the deal would be a dream

  • Do Southend have a reason to get rid of Barnard then?
  • Yeah theyre bankrupt, something bout winding up orders over unpaid tax bills or somethin
