Amazing question! However bad things have been never would even contemplate not supporting Charlton (though I have had many reasons to be royally f#cked off with them-Sunday springs immediately to mind).
If someone had told me 3 years ago I would be watching mickey mouse ice skating instead of Charlton in the FA Cup I would have laughed a lot but priorities change.
However work and health permitting I will always have a season ticket and do 5-10 away games
Yes. Permanently, if we ever move out to Kent. Temporarily, if are taken over by someone so horrific that I feel the need to protest by withdrawing my support. And if football is ever restructured in a way that permanently bars us from the top table, then I might go and watch someone else as well (one of the bigger teams), in the same way that I might go to Dulwich Hamlet games as well as CAFC now.
It's a bit of a dilemma. I like and subscribe to the 'til I die' attitude, but I don't want to be taken for a mug punter who will turn up to anything, anytime, anywhere. That has exposed the average supporter to a lot of exploitation in the last 15 years.
Never, It just wouldnt work, you would never feel the commitment and the bond to any other club, and really charlton hasnt changed, we had some good years and it was a flippin surprise more than anything and now weare back to the hope years again, and you never know we might just hit form and then it feels AMAZING!!!!
something no one will ever really get, if you follow other "big" you will never get the negative, so you will never get the real proper lows, like we get which make the highs unbelievable....
I wouldnt be technically possible to change clubs for me.....
If Charlton were to get relegated to become a non-league team and i had to listen to anymore 'happy clappy-nothing ever goes wrong at our club-stay positive-worse things happen at sea-we nearly went bust in 1984-puts it all into perspective bollox' from charlton fans saying how wonderful an experience it will be for us to play in the conference and that we might win some games for once i would then know it was time to support a team whose supporters had a pair ...............................
No - Even if Charlton were to get relegated and become a non-league team - Come on we nearly went bust in 1984 and think about all the new grounds we could go to and at least we'd be able to compete at that level.
Really Chalton are a bit like your family, some times you are ashamed, and dissapointed by them, and some times you are proud of them, but you never disown them, it is not in my DNA. I have had many a time when my frustration has boiled over, but you stick with a team, whatever, may not be my favourite squad of players at present, but if I wanted to support an easy team to do that I would support Arsenal like my brother, but I only have 1 team, and I know that in my heart. Could still give them a good yell at times though......

Have to agree with Southendaddick here, I can't believe how far we have fallen.
I some times wish I could walk away, but alas I cant. Even living thousands of miles away in australia, my love is as strong as ever! You never forget your first live game of football and it just sticks. It cant be helped!
I'd never stop supporting Charlton. Once my dad had taken me to that first game, that was it, a bond was made for life. I love the club and always will.

since the end of last season i have seriously considered changing my support. while i recognise that i'll always be, at heart, a charlton fan and that will never change. and i doubt that i'll ever be and feel as passionate about any other club.
but as a supporter of over 40 years, if i'm honest, supporting charlton has been a depressing affair, as i'm sure any other supporter, of a team, that is unlikely to fulfill their dreams must feel. i don't think where unique or set apart from any other supporters whose teams have been in the wilderness for decades or appear unambitious.
for me, apart from about 10 years, when getting back to the valley, the play off final, relegation and returning to the premiership as champions. the other 30 years have seen few highlights, in my own experience. yes there have been moments but far too few.
as a kid ( about 14 ) and i know i'm gonna be, boo hissed at revealing this but one of my first experiences of real excitment was watching man yoo on a black & white tv beat benfica 4-1 in the european cup. it was a great game and best was a real star and since then i've always had a soft spot for them. come on, i was a kid and impressionable.
i still have them as my team in the prem and like a lot of armchair man yoo fans who don't live in the city, it is unlikely that i'll ever go to see them, i'm not that passionate. i did go to see charlton play at old trafford in the cup and supported us of course.
anyway my point is, man yoo, probably win on average about 95% of their games and that's a wonderfull feelgood factor. something that happens rarely with charlton. most of the time, if not actually at the game, i hide behind the sofa when the results come on of a saturday or close my eyes and peep gingerly at the thread on charlton life, i get, in short, near to death with anxiety. while i imagine all fans experience the same in varying degrees but how nice it must be if you support one of the top four and can almost relax and feel pretty bloody confident that your teams gonna win. it counts for a lot and while i know a lot of you will say, yeah but tha's half the excitment of supporting charlton, well yes, it once was for me but not anymore. i'm personally fed up with the doom and gloom and air of depression hanging over the club and in turn me. so while i doubt i can be brave enough to do it, i do wonder how much more i can take before i jump or do a wyn grant and suspend my support.
Yup, also fed up with the doom and gloom and air of depression ... but it's my team and I ain't going to change because of the prevailing mood.
We are Charlton for god's sake ... it's never going to be easy ... I don't believe you will be able to change personally .. you've been around too long ... it's in the blood now mate.
Oh, and by the way, Wyn has just suspended his blog, NOT his support!!!
As someone who changed clubs to support Charlton, it's still a no. The special set of circumstances that made me a turn coat would never be repeated.
Wherever I have lived I have always "followed" the local team, I used to watch The Cobblers play a few times a season when I lived in Northampton, and now I follow Imortal Albufeira. I was asked the question last night at which point do I think I will start counting Imortal as my first team. I decided I could not forsee a time when, if Charlton were on the box and it clashed with an Imortal game, I would choose the latter.
I thought that over the past six years, since we left Blighty that my passion had dulled a bit. The sick feeling I had for two days after Sunday has put paid that notion.
I was a bit of a Johnny come lately with regards to supporting Charlton. The majority of that time supporting Charlton, the club has been in a downward spiral. But I've still loved every minute of it. Once Charlton, Charlton for life.

Loved Kigelia's comment btw. Made me laugh out loud!
Besides, there are no other teams in south London.
Good point BFR!

Great answer ken

i know, i was trying to be dramatic.
Thats a no from me.

So in answer to the question, NO!!
