Lots of anger, frustration and possibly over-reaction flying around tonight. But it is easy to understand why. It's not just about losing to a non-league side. it's about a steady decline ever since we faced bloody Pardew's Southampton in mid-Sept and dropped our first points of the season.
So are we :
a) currently in the middle of a blip and will soon return to our early season excellence?
or
b) was the blip our early season form and we are now slowly returning to the dross of recent years?
If I was more computer literate I'd do a graph of this, but as I can't it's a table :
August : 5 league wins out of 5
Sept : 2 wins out of 5
Oct : 1 win out of 5
Nov : ???
If I had to put my finger on one thing that seems different between August and now , it's that back then we were playing as a team and every player looked like they were playing for each other.
From what I saw at Gillingham and on tv today (wasn't at Carlisle), that spirit has now been lost.
