"I have to say we have taken plenty of plaudits this season. I've come off after every game and said we will win some, lose some and draw some, but it will always be an honest performance.
"The commitment today fell below that standard.”
"We made too many basic mistakes as a team. There wasn't enough character or fight in the team. There wasn't any courage to get on the ball. We were second best.
"I've got to take it on the chin. Ultimately I'm the one responsible as I'm the one that picked the team."
Fair play to him - about as candid as you can reasonably expect a football manager to be about his team and no attempts to polish a turd in there.
It's the reaction on Wednesday and Saturday that counts now - I won't be able to stomach the mauling Pardew's Saints will give us if we turn in another display like todays.

nice and friendly...
are Charlton fans on the way back to fighting each other like at Ipswich away...? surely we've learnt by now that division in the stands does not bring a single positive whatsoever
yep at the end of the day as long as the manager isn't a complete wrong un i don't care how exciting/boring/bullshitty their after match thoughts or words are .....
it's results that matter and on that note thank goodness we had the glory years under curbs and the quarter finals of the fa cup he took us to (in his last season as well)
[cite]Posted By: D_F_T[/cite]Who gives a fuck about honesty?
Honesty is admitting you got it wrong
Results are what we need...poke honesty!
Like you wanting Curbs out egh DFT....you got that one wrong didn't you as many of us kept telling you...but you'll never admit it will you as that would be being honest. I'm not surprised you don't see virtue in it.
I think if nothing else he was honest and that is at least honourable if nothing else and yes I do give a fook about honesty.....how bloody odd that you don't.
At the end of the day Curbs wanted out so it doesnt matter what any of the fans thought of him.
Parkinson was 50% of the management duo that took us down.
The flying start covered up the inadequacies he has.
The next 2 games are crucial imho - if he cant get a reaction from the team, I fear we may just slide down the table - bit like first season in Championship with the 'we are still 5th brigade'
At least his role as manager is gonna be judged on results eh - imagine if he had been given a contract extension - oh hold on.....
It's disappointing that parky put the defeat down to a lack of character, fight and committment, because these are the criteria upon which he built the side. I saw a team that defended too deep, often the midfield were in our half and blue shirts were too far apart to pick a pass. McLeod cannot play the lone striker role, but I could have told you that before the match. It's a shame we didn't put more balls into the corners for him rather than in the air with a giant defender marking him.
We definitely didn't defend like this during our sucessful opening spell. What has changed? Don't we use Prozone any more? The last ten minutes where we pushed up to the halfway line proved how we can pressurise teams, why don't we do it from the off?

Well that's about the only good thing I've heard all day...if 'good' is the right word. I think you all know what I mean.
Compare and contrast with the scumbag Pardew.
Unfair to tar Parky with the same brush in my opinion.
wipe the shite out of your eyes pal he was one part of twiddle di and twiddle dum last season and FUCK all has changed this season!!

How exactly? Parky is a far far worse manager than Pardew, results don't lie.
