Just got home from Northwich

It was a bad game as those watching on TV will have seen. Only two players came out of it OK and they were Randolph and a cameo appearance from Burton. The complete midfield was poor, not only Semedo, Racon but also Bailey, Sam & Shelvey. The right back is weak and Sam is far better with Richardson.

At half time I was berating our midfield for not getting the ball to McLeod, but once Burton and Mackenzie came on I realised that McLeod is just a waste of space or he needs a striking partner, which Shelvey isn't nor is he meant to be.

The best team won and it will be interesting who Parkson plays against the Saints.

  • Agree with you about the right back, thought he looked poor but they were all awful.
  • I thought I would wait a few hours to post so that I would have calmed down from watching that utter pile of tripe that we served up. It's not the fact that we've lost, cup shocks happen. It's the embarassing manner in which we lost. For a team second in division three, how many times did we simply run the ball off the pitch. Our control was generally abysmal. What about when Sodjie simply hoofed the ball up in the air and it actually ballooned over the main stand, to think that guy has had Premier experience, it beggars belief. I knew Shelvey wasn't up for it when he was shaking hands with the oppo, he had that superior air about him. I think he thought he would stroll through this game, gotta shock didn't he!
As others have already said, good luck to Northwich, they deserved the victory. I'm getting seriously worried about the team now, we've gone from a confident, slick passing, winning side to one that is fast resembling the one of the previous two seasons. At this rate I seriously wonder if we will end the season in the top half, let alone be promoted!

    ...........

On the other hand I thought that handshake might just have saved him from a booking.
  • Different handshakes BFR, but I know what you mean. We all have to remember he is only 17, but why get involved in stupid stuff like that today by the corner flag. He could easily have had a yellow card (or worse!) and it's not the first time we've seen him get involved like that this season. I'd much rather he channels his aggression into his performance! I certainly don't want to single JonJo out, because most of them were shite today, but if he is going to improve in the game he must learn very quickly that he has to roll his sleeves up and compete in this type of game!
  • But any indiscretion paled, compared to McLeod's elbow! They are 88 places below us ffs, do we really need to resort to such actions, was also not impressed with the kicking the ball out instead of to the keeper - professionalism at its worst. Then of course there were the numerous collapses as players were touched by a feather!!

I was wondering whether the defender had managed to grab hold of more than just his shorts in that tussle.
