  • I have seen a lot of dross and felt despair on many occasions over the years but I haven't felt as embarrassed and ashamed of a Charlton team as I do today.

This is kind of performance is NOT acceptable.

This is in no way meant to take the plaudits from Northwich, they were the better team and deserved to win.
  • Are you having a laugh or what

The most embarrassing result ever for Charlton? Probably not.

We're a third division team beaten away in the FA Cup by a determined non-league side.

We lost to lower opposition many times, including at home, in the Premiership days.

It's what the FA Cup is all about.

There again, I didn't have the (dis)pleasure of watching the game on live TV here and couldn't be bothered with the streams which are invariably crap here in Thailand.

But I won't have to go to work and get laughed at by colleagues tomorrow!

But it does sound as though the team needs some serious work if we are not to slip down the table.

I'll post a moan tomorrow (as I promised) after reading a bit more and maybe catching some high (low) lights

    ...........

I think we are 82 places ahead of NV in league terms, they've been in admin this season and the first time as a club we've lost to a non-league team in a proper game. If there's been a more embarrassing result I'd like to know when it was - this will take some beating.
  • Maybe you are right. I'm a long way away and to be honest haven't had that much interest in the FA Cup. A Premier League team will win it so it won't be us!

Also you guys watched it on TV, along with an audience of neutrals. That will make it worse.

Second round weekend must be the time to get Burton in for his operation.
  • bangkok in over 40 years of going im struggling to think of a worse ALL ROUND display. If (and we never looked like it) had snatched a draw it would have been a true mugging.
  • The lowest point in our playing history.

These players should hang their heads in shame - what a gutless bunch of show ponies they are.
  • In the cold light of day Wycombe under Uncle Les will be regarded as worse but this is definitely one of my worst Charlton moments since 1963.

Northwich dominated us and could have had 3.

Is this the correct place for me to offer my congratulations to former Palace legend Andy Preece, and his team on a wonderful performance?
  • At least Wycombe and Forest had a sort of ...... history, but this was just poor, very poor even the rose tinted have to agree on that surely......

I never saw parky once 'move' let alone motivate the team, and like myself was probably shell shocked at most of the team not performing......

When sam Ran off with the ball it reminded me of some of the home games around x mas last year, devoud of any skill, ideas and ball control.

Think I will leave it at that a lot of upset people on here...... rightly so

Any ex-Palace player who is instrumental in causing embarrasment to Charlton, are automatically elevated to the status of Legend, these also include notable lgends such as Alan Pardew and Iain Dowie.
