Round III of Questions

edited November 2009 in General Charlton
Am most grateful for all your answers thus far-
There are a few more that I as a volunteer) need an `official` answer on for our programme-
I did send questions to 3 email addresses at your club a few days ago but have n`t had an answer (perhaps I did n`t select the contacts - from a long list - very well)...
Anyroad, anyone know a good contact at the club / an official supporters` organisation / trust who can `officiate`, pls?
In case it would be more appropriate, here`s my email address (esp for tel. no`s): andrew@higginson8352.fsnet.co.uk Given work commitments / `supervision`, I`d be hard-stretched to take up leads given to me after 7pm tomorrow (Weds) in time for the print deadline. Hope I can do you lot justice on the printed page.
Ace banter & minimum of bickering on the site, meanwhile.

  • The Fans' Forum is probably your best bet.

    Ta muchly LG,

Everyone else. please bear in mind, I`m NOT expecting even a draw in 5 days` time (it`s in my self-apponyed ever-so-unfficial non-league remiyt to ask such questions to save our beleagured General Manager from getting his @rse kicked for the price of a phone call)!

    1) What would a possible FA Cup 1st Rnd replay (if we managed to force a draw!) at the Valley be (time and provisional date, please)?

    2) What would admission prices be for adults, OAP`s, students and children?

    3) Which end / side would Vics fans have access to?

    4) How much is your programme?

    5) What does parking at the ground cost?

    6) What time would away fans need to arrive to park by the ground?

    7) Where should visiting fans park should they not be able to park at the Valley for a night match?

    8) Which station would cover our tie(s) – BBC London and or BBC Kent?

    9) What`s the best tel no / email address at your club for Vics fans to send any enquiries they may have?

    10) What approach to the area (ie M25 or M11) would you advise, roughly, coming from the north (M1) of an evening?

    11) Has it always been called Floyd Road?

    12) What tune does your team run out to?

    13) What attendance might there be if there were a 1st round replay?

    Cheerio

  • 3) Jimmy Seed Stand (South) behind the goal
    4) £3
    12) Red Red Robin

Can't answer the others with any certainty
  • if you took 3 thosand i reckon 12,000 crowd for replay
  • 1) What would a possible FA Cup 1st Rnd replay (if we managed to force a draw!) at the Valley be (time and provisional date, please)? Probably the 17th or 18th Nov, KO is usually 7.45pm

    2) What would admission prices be for adults, OAP`s, students and children? I would imagine that the club will charge about£15 for adults and £5 for U16's and over 65's

    3) Which end / side would Vics fans have access to? - Jimmy Seed stand - The oldest stand. Not the best, but it does have the best acoustics.

    4) How much is your programme? £3.00

    5) What does parking at the ground cost? No parking at the ground, it's a CPZ around the Valley - so I'd visit Greenwich Council's website.

    6) What time would away fans need to arrive to park by the ground? Not sure - others will answer that

    7) Where should visiting fans park should they not be able to park at the Valley for a night match? - As above

    8) Which station would cover our tie(s) – BBC London and or BBC Kent? Both, though Kent normally broadcast our games on 774mw which is normally unobtainable in most parts of kent.

    9) What`s the best tel no / email address at your club for Vics fans to send any enquiries they may have? Club tel No. is 020 8333 4000

    10) What approach to the area (ie M25 or M11) would you advise, roughly, coming from the north (M1) of an evening? Best bet is to avoid Blackwall and Rotherhithe Tunnels - Go round M25 to Dartford and come up the A2

    11) Has it always been called Floyd Road? - Probably

    12) What tune does your team run out to? The Red Red Robin

    13) What attendance might there be if there were a 1st round replay? - If you lot bring loads then 10-12k?
  • We took 3,500-odd to Sunderland on a Sunday 4 yrs ago (non-televised), yet just 500 or so to Orient for a mid-week replay on Sky in 2000, so IF our lads performed the heroic act of getting a replay, I reckon we`d have 7 or 8 hundred in attendance.
  • 10) If your fans do come via the Blackwall Tunnel (M11 way), follow the signs for London A13. That brings you out onto the Blackwall Tunnel approach road just before the tunnel itself. If you go the preferred route via A12, and A102, you get stuck on the A102 (Blackwall tunnel approach road near Old Ford). I always go that way coming from Norwich, done the M11 past the M25 junction. Check it out on the map. My Tom Tom always tries to take me via A12 but it tends to be much worse. The problem with going via Dartford Crossing is at rush hour times it can be a real nightmare with queues up as far as A127 junction. As for Rotherhithe, well the chances are your fans won't even find it let alone use it! It's well hidden especially coming from the North.
  • Sod the Rotherhithe tunnel anyway! you'd end up in an hours load of traffic going through Surrey Quays, Deptford and Greenwich - and then going past the Blackwall tunnel on the southern side!

  • The best advice on the Blackwall Tunnel vs Dartford crossing issue is to keep listenting out for local traffic reports. If you hear nothing then stay on the M25 and go for Dartford, if the road is bad or you get bad reports take the A13 to docklands. If you go via Dartford, the A206 is as quick a way as any into Charlton.
  • For evening matches I use the Blackwall tunnel and although there is usually a queue, it is quicker than going to Dartford, queueing there. and then driving to Charlton. The controlled parking zone stops at 18.30, so you can park pretty much anywhere except double yellow lines, police suspended areas and your goalmouth.
  • Cheers.
