  • Turn my back on the club and support Leyton Orient. What do you mean Daz?
  • Run down the bookies and stick £100 on us going up
  • Wake up shortly afterwards.
  • To celebrate :o) sorry meant what would you think (at work got distracted)
  • Do you mean if Curbs would return as manager or as director of football?

I can't see Parky accepting a demotion to being assistant manager.

    'Oh my, that's good news!'
  • I would be over the moon Curbs coming back that would be amazing. Not sure parky deserves a demotion but if Curbs came back as manager i would be very chuffed.

Years ago the Thames would every year, so much so they would have fates and fares on the ice......

Now just to be awkward what would you think of either scenario?

Part of me would dearly love it to happen (it won't though) but in fairness to Phil Parkinson (whose appointment I opposed) despite the bad start he was clearly turning things around at the end of last season, far to late to correct any of Pardew's screw ups but there was a noticeable change and that has been further evidenced by Charlton's good start this season.
He has carried his job out with a rare dignity when all around him (myself included) would have prefered anyone but him in the hot seat- and were not slow to say it!
He has kept a good spirit in the camp, got off to a great start in League 1- far beyond most of our expectations and in my opinion deserves to remain in the job for the now. Hopefully Saturday was a blip and he can eventually lead us back to the Championship. Leicester's superb start to the season shows that the gap between the Championship and League 1 is nothing in comparison with the gap between the Championship and the Premier League.
Whilst Parky doesn't set the pulse racing I believe he is a responsible pair of hands on the tiller and I have to say I am happy for him to remain in charge even of Curbs is out there, that was then this is now.

Curbs returning as manager as parky being demoted..no. Besides we've just extended parky's contract, why do that if you are going to demote him?

As DoF...I don't think so either, what would Curbs achieve that the current set-up couldn't? Besides which we are operating on a tight budget and I'd rather the money that would be spent on Curb's salary being invested on the playing squad.
  • i think parky would be within his rights to go and ask for another contract extension as circumstances have changed so quickly and he must be somewhat threatened...the little love.
  • It does put another aspect to Parky being given his contract extension last week.

Maybe it was to forestall Curbs to Return talk?
  • Buy another season ticket.ENOUGH SAID.

Me too. But I would be extremely disappointed if he kept Parky as his number 2.

  • parky's performance for us as 'number 2' is a mystery ... did he coach/assist or do anything during his time under pardew , blameless clearly

Parky has accepted anything this club has offered him.
He accepted the manager's job with no rise in salary.
He even put up with being left to twist in the wind during the close season, so long as they continued to pay him.
Keep him employed and he may offer to cut the grass for Paddy.
