Looks familiar to me, not the same Mark who used to go on Junior Reds coaches, and was a season ticket holder at the Valley in the late 90's?

I was thinking the same thing the other day, only caught the name on TV and didn't see his pic....used to go to school with him and his older sister.
  • It's him
  • yep - just googled him, it's definately him.

his sister and mum and dad were/are season ticket holders.
  • Ah, thought so, the boys done good then.

Anyone know if he still goes?
  • Mark's sister, Rachel, who worked for me at the club in 1998-99, now lives in Australia.
  • Anyone know if he knows any mega rich business men who want to buy a football club?
  • blimey, that's surprised me !
  • Surprised me too Afka, hadn't seen Mark around since he went to Uni
  • Couldn't believe it when i saw the Guardian piece. Good luck to him and as Henry suggests lets hope he can send some rich business men our way!

  • Good for him the guy seems like he's a proper 'What a Scoop' journo. As much as I find Peston's headline journalism annoying at times, it's desperately needed in business journalism; especially in comparison to say someone like Jeremy 'behind the curve' Warner in the Tele.
  • I wentr to school with Mark, Blimey hes done well! Well don eot him
  • I remember him..good luck to the lad
  • wow.. knew he was doing well in the world of journalism, I thought he was still in Hong Kong.

Also proper Charlton. Biggest mouth on him of anyone i can remember back in the junior reds days!!
  • Ain't that the truth about him and his mouth in the JR days!
  • think Rachel was a journo too. I know she moved to Melbourne and there is a Rachel Kleinman writing for The Age so reckon it's her.
  • Yeah - I used to know Rachel because we were both at the London College of Printing at the same time, and she lived a few streets away in Greenwich from me. When I first saw that interview with Mark in the paper it had me scratching my head, thinking: "why's that face/name so familiar...?"

It is.Though I think she has gone freelance after the birth of her daughter.

I remember Mark from all those coach trips up and down the country back (to use modern parlance) in the day. He wasn't in my opinion any more gobby than most of us tbh, I always remembered him as a chap with a decent sense of humour and a thorough hard core Charlton nut! Good on him I say.
  • Agree Pilchard - didn't mean big mounth in a bad way... more his voice managed to carry more than most when singing, giving it to the oppo fans.

  • He had a great row with Richard Redden at Leeds when we lost 4-1 in 98. Was better entertainment than what was on the pitch.

Most people have had a row with Richard
  • have a row with richard redden should be one on the ''you're not proper charlton unless'' list.
  • Even Ive done that!

I was sitting really close to them when they started arguing. If i recall correctly Mark shouted something and Richard started going on about 'supporting your team' and they went from there. It was the highlight of the day along with a cracker of a goal from Morts if my memory serves.

But wait for the backlash when Mr Murdoch makes his move.
