Peter Warlock's Capriol Suite, played here by the wonderful Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. Warlock lived in Eynsford in the mid 1920s. He liked a beer or three. Or five. Among his other works are The Curlew and the lovely carol Bethlehem Down. I rate him a wonderful composer.
After watching warriors last night I have listened to the eagles (spit) in the city about ten times today (the song the radio station play to apologise at the end )
@fadgadget yep I like the Rain Tree Crow album and Nine Horses, I enjoy his improvised ventures such as Blemish and Manafon, but miss his brilliant songwriting.
FEAR by Marillion, described as their best album in 20 years by the Guardians review. I pre ordered at Christmas last year, finally released today. Utterly blown away by it. Best late Christmas present ever.
That sounds most unlikely. If true, it's probably because of where he grew up. The Batt family (this being his real surname) lived in Venner Road, Sydenham.
Anybody who remembers the popular TV series Budgie from the 70's, this was the theme song composed by Ray Davies of the Kinks, but not officially released by them at the time. It evokes my own memories of Soho at the time; vibrant, full of life and peopled by chancers, crooks, prossies, tourists, the sordid, the desperate and the lonely. Give it a listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RgIrAyedwA

Have been playing this while lazing by the pool. Glorious...and spot on about the baseline.

Old style punk with a modern sound, love it.
Fascinating comparison ... Kurt Cobain wins for me but it's close
