He was in the Charlton end at Colchester with his kids, and i asked him what was happening. He said "Charlton never asked me to come back at the end of the season, so i'm doing some coaching here and concentrating on media stuff"
[cite]Posted by: Matt Holland[/cite]I was washing up the dishes on a Friday while I was playing for Charlton Athletic a few years back when a plate slipped out of my hand. Instead of letting it smash on the floor I foolishly tried to 'trap' the plate with my foot - and ended up with a large chunk of my right foot being taken off!
I was too scared to tell Alan Curbishkey so I got in touch with the physio who saw me at the ground hours before kick off on my own. Somehow he patched it up and I was able to play. Ironically I scored in the match but with a header not my throbbing right foot."

Because he's past it and no one wants him.
He seems to be concentrating on media stuff at the moment, seems to be always on Talksport and Sky.
Hope he never gets flu.
i saw this on bbc a few weeks back and said he retired:
"while Matt, responding to my stare, said just he was glad he had retired. "
in the second to last paragraph.
