Huddersfield captain ahead of Saturday

I wonder if he regrets choosing Huddersfield over us in the summer ?

From the Hudders Examiner (oo-er)

PETER CLARKE says Town will head to Charlton Athletic tomorrow confident of collecting the three points which would get their promotion bid firmly back on track.

Buoyed by the 4-0 home win over Exeter City, captain Clarke and his teammates aim to become the fourth team in succession to prevent the Londoners scoring in League I games.

Colchester United, Leeds United and Oldham Athletic have set the defensive example Town aim to follow.

And while second-placed Charlton are unbeaten at The Valley this season, and have lost just once in 12 league games overall, Clarke says he and his teammates firmly believe they can take what would be a major scalp.

Phil Parkinson’s side have conceded only four goals in home league games, chalking up wins over Wycombe Wanderers, Walsall, Brentford and Exeter City as they seek an immediate return to the Championship.

Southampton and, last Saturday, Oldham Athletic have gained draws at the capital venue but Clarke says Town must target a win.

“We’re under no illusions, it’s going to be tough,” said the 27-year-old ahead of Town’s first visit to The Valley since April 2000, when Clyde Wijnhard clinched a 1-0 away win

“One look at their squad list and record so far this season tells you what they’re about, but we’re going there in good spirits.

“We had a great win last Saturday and we’ve had an excellent week on the training ground, and we know what we need to do.

“We showed at MK Dons what we’re capable of, and if we are to get to where we want to be, we have to go to places like Charlton and get a result.”

Wiltshire whistler Roger East will be the referee
