Been reading on that other site that Burton needs a hernia op and might be out a while and that Dickson was back at the valley saturday.
Anyone know anymore?
If that's true ...... at least Hernia ops are relatively quick repair and recovery jobs compared with the old 'tinopener' surgery.
Players can be back in just a few weeks these days.
Anyway, we've got McLeod and McKenzie ready to step in. ;o)
Dicko back at The Valley last Saturday?
Something to do with Bristol Rovers not having a match last weekend......?
Love to see Dicko back, but unless Mckenzie can do the support play... Dicko and Shelvey don't quite click. Maybe they will at this level but Dicko's harem scarem and Shelvey's youthfull all over the place exuberance is way too lose, and very little ball sticks against even semi-organised champ teams.

Scored and created a lot of goals for each other in the reserves, but I see your point. Can we even get Dickson back yet anyway? I don't think its been 28 days yet, although I could be wrong.
Tbh, I think it's a bit an irrelevance, I don't expect to see him back unless something happens to Mcleod and/or McKenzie as well.
Unless your a monster like Drogba I don't think many players can sustain form if they play a lot of game time up front on their own. The guy's 32, and if people aren't supporting quick he's quickly going to run dry.

Dicko and Shelvey have mostly been replaced by one another in the first team though rarely have they played together? Makes little or no sense to say they don't click especially after their reserve partnership.
Dazzler what sensible world is this? When did Dickson play in the hole? Could Dickson play well in the hole? When did banging goals in the reserves against third rate teams mean the partnership is bang to rights?
Dickson played up front on his own against Coventry, with Shelvey in a way down no-mans land hole. Clearly after that match Parky never ever contemplated playing him as a lone striker, and both Parky and Dicko said afterwards that Charlton are playing a way that doesn't suit him.
Every close season Ambrose scored plenty in meaningless matches, supposedly looked great in practice but come game time and first-team agressive competition the goals generally dissapeared and plenty of opposition attacks came through him. Makes erm no sense when people bring up a mythical Shelvey & Dickson partnership in reserves. When was this? Last season Dicko played with Tuna, Burton, Godfrey, Todorov and Kandol in the reserves whilst he and Shelvey ripped apart Lewes. Is this one match against amateurs proof positive? I know now how you can say they may click.

you could equally say the same about McLeod although by some miracle he has actually scored (had more starts etc tho I think)
I'm no fan of Mcleod but when he settles in to a game he does try and bring other players into it. From what I've seen of Dickson when he goes through a fallow phase in the match he's not able to face towards his goal, link play and keep ball. Dicko's all hustle and bustle facing their goal, which is great but no good as a lone man when the midfield is nowhere near. Mcleod keeps working, Dicko fades away in that position.
Mcleod does too much of it an not enough shooting on target.. but also unsuited to 451 is my point, more often than not the ball comes straight back at you
Burton has got a hernia it's on the O/S. Parky says he can play on with it for the time being. He will be out for 3 weeks when it gets worse and an op is needed.
A mate of mine is good mates with dickson,he said dicksons attitude is all wrong, late for training due to goin out drinking, very flash and doesnt get on with parky and lazy in training, why do we want someone like that in our team.
Clearly needs his op, hasn't looked his best for a good few games now. Carlise away, northwich away, saints away. A lot of travelling coming up and 3 games we can probably do without him for. Get his op in now. I don't know what the recovery is like but get him back in time for MK Dons on the 14th if possible.
Really think he ought to be having the op today. Otherwise we risk getting ourselves into an Andy Gray-type situation. He can miss Carlisle , FA cup and JPT, MK Dons and probably Yeovil and target a return in the mid-week home game v Bristol Rovers on Nov 24.
No use to us as he is at the moment and let's use Mooney while we've got him. Looked like he could be a handful from his brief appearances v 'uddersfield and the Gills.

He would need to be the poacher in a front two.
