Why Parky can't be a top manager YET

edited October 2009 in General Charlton
Hi yep that's right it's me Dazzler the parky supporter!

In my opinion Parky will never be a top manager unless he learns two things.

1. How to change it up against different sides.
And
2. How to heal rifts between himself and players (dicko fleets and yassin) even if they are being arrogant etc he needs to show he is the boss and that he is willing to use the best team available! Dickson is banging goals in for a reason as WAS Mcleod and Fleets.

Comments

  • I think you're absolutely wrong about point 2. He has demonstrated perfectly well that he knows how to deal with these players: get rid.
  • Is there a rift between Parky and Fleetwood? Haven't we shipped him out because he isn't very good at football?

Dickson is scoring for Rovers, but I don't think 3 goals constitutes "banging" them in.

Mou2 wouldn't be playing even if there was no rift. Richardson is a better defender.
  • He could try to turn them around rather than just get rid especially this year when we need good strong players

3 goals 3 games banging them in IMO better than mcleods record! I just feel getting rid of any player you feel is problematic is a silly move try to show some management skill and turn them around rather than being stubborn lol! Then get rid if that fails!

    Didn't do Curbs any harm...
  • Dazzler, do you know whether or not there have actually there have been rifts between parky and those players? if so what are the details?
  • Just the way they have been handled - Dicko just a pawn in mind games and not being played. - Yassin apparently said to someone on here when parky took over "that's it for me" and just heard fleets and him didn't get on

Yeah, cos the my way or the highway treatment has always really held Alex Ferguson back hasn't it?

neither have the tens of millions he's spent each season...

P.s all my info is Basically unproven rumours ;o)
  • Also I thought it was silly comparing phil to curbs but now furguson too lol now that is funny

  • Why is it silly? They're all football managers - two of them very successful at the top of the English game, one is one of the all time greats (even if he is a an absolute tool). If it's good enough for Ferguson it should be good enough for anyone.

I understand your point that Ferguson has the luxury of money to spend to replace the likes of Stam and Beckham that he's kicked out over the years but the general principal still applies - if they've ideas above their station and are proving to be disruptive on the theam ethic then get rid. Debate continues as to whether or not Dickson as been a disruptive influence or not but you get my point.
  • Certainly do but while we can't afford new players is it smart to kick out some of the ones that could do the job - screw it lol our youth can cover us lol !!! I think we should start

  • But the example that suggests it is not all Parky's fault, is Youga.Transformed. And possibly JonJo too, as I seem to recall Uncle saying more or less that he much preferred Parky to Pardew. (But then JonJo doesn't have an attitude problem). Racon also blossoming. Deon Burton working his nuts off.

Moo2 was frozen out by Pardew anyway. I wish it hadnt been so, because I think he is a great footballer, but simply not suited to the English league. He would not be the first good footballer to find that.

Your proposition in the headline is a reasonable one, but I'm not sure he's got a case to answer re these players.

It would be interesting to get hold of some Bristol Rovers fans and find out what they reckon of Dickson.
  • Definately agree r.e Dicko
  • Moo2 - i think he's shown with his comments about wanting to sign for one of the Old Firm whilst currently a Motherwell player, what sort of man he is. A bad apple - get rid.

Dickson - whilst we play with one up he was never going to get in our side so we need to loan him to someone who could then afford to buy him. Plus he thinks he's a lot better than he actually is.
I personally would still rather we'd kept him though.

Fleetwood - just isn't good enough for us. If he was he'd be playing.
  • Agree he needs to get over the Dicko rift (if only for goals) but Parky showed last year with J Wright, he is the boss and has no time for ego's, especially from players who have achieved nothing in the game!
Moo2 is a shocking defender and showed with his time here and his old firm comments that his attitude is wrong! Good riddance, Richardson may not be everyones cup of tea at the back but give 100% and a much better defender
  • Alos re point 1, he did change it up on sat, albeit a little late for our liking, surely going 4-4-2 shows he does have a plan b and it nearly worked (let's be honest if we beat Oldham and took the chances late on against Saints and Norwich to deservedly win then this thread would not be here). this season at times it has not been about plan b it has been poor finishing (no names)

Actually he publically applauded Josh's displays and more or less said he was a shoe in for next match, then dropped him. As a young guy Josh over-reacted so Parky got rid, and we lost a talented player who is one of the better Scunthorpe players looking at newspaper marks, a division higher.

You're assuming that someone is going to be prepared to stump up cash for a player that will have 4 months left on his contract by the end of the next transfer window. Even if he gets 10 goals by then I can't see cash strapped sides in this league coming up with money for someone they can probably loan or get for free in the summer. Regardless of his personal perception of his abilities loaning a striker with a track record of goals to the team that's on your heels, with little or no prospect of getting any revenue out of it, is hard to fathom.

  • Still a 4x - 6x profit though.
