Anyone ever heard of Gerrit Keizer?

edited October 2009 in General Charlton
Apparently was a goalie for Arsenal in 1931 and Ajax reserves, he used to fly home to Holland after a match for Arsenal and play for Ajax reserves. Didn't play for Arsenal after the 31 season but signed for us apparently? Never heard of him but sounds an interesting chap as he got nabbed after the war for flying over to England with forged banknotes in his goalies bag.

Yes mate, I remember my dad talking about him. He appears in Colin Cameron's 'Valiant 500' although in the book he's called 'Gerry Peter' Keizer. Played 17 games for us in Div.2 and seems to have been quite an eccentric character. Look him up on Wiki for more details.
    I
  • never herd of him!
  • always thought their was a book in that story
  • And a film of the book Henry, re-creating the Valley and Highbury of the '30s: that would be interesting.
  • we have all the talents we need on Charlton Like.

Lets do it all right here in the barn.
  • Wasn't he the one who got banged up for smuggling currency?
  • Sorry, didn't read Colins post properly.Doh!
