we hear from Parky that Tuna is pushing Shelvey for a place, McLeod pushing Burton, Basey pushing Youga etc so why then if Richardson is out tomorrow are we likely to switch Youga to RB when Solly is pushing for a chance ? If Solly is Richardson's deputy then if he is out surely he should step in. I don't like this square pegs in round holes idea and also thereby making more changes to the back four than is necessary. If this happens only one of last weeks back four will start in the same position. That is too many changes. If Solly is good enough then give him a go, he didn't let us down last time.

I think I'm in general agreement with your point, especially as Youga has been playing well with Bailey and providing the main attacking thrust down that flank, but I can see why Parky might be reluctant to start Solly against a good Oldham side, especially when the right side will already be weaker and inexperienced if Wagstaff has to come in for Sam.
But then what do I know?
i think that was in reference to wagstaff
Don't see what the problem is, no point throwing the young 'un in and him being absolutely slaughtered in the air all game.
Wrong he was actually talking about Wayne Rooney. Thrown in at the deep end for Everton at 16, his career suffered because of it and he's now a paperboy in Toxteth.
Conversely, what if none of the 11 were keepers.
How do you think Stevie Brown got to play?
Wouldn't be totally surprised if Richardson plays.
I thank you.
Big Head
Let's face it, the guy just can't win with some and never will.
Probably the same people who wanted Curbs out as he couldn't take us "to the next level". The sort of people who see us lose once into mid October and still ain't happy - yet apparently have been watching us for years and therefore surely they know a good seson when they see one? God knows there have been enough cack ones.
Mugs.
Didn't realise I wasn't allowed an opinion. And, if I'm not a Parky lover, at least I'm being consistant.
Well done on Richardson. But if that's Parky keeping the Oldham manager guessing , it was a pretty pathetic effort. Oldham knew exactly what to expect, prepared a plan to nullify us and it worked a treat for them because we were so predicitable and unenterprising.
Wouldn't have been at all worried if Basey had played- thought he was superb in mid-week and I think he will eventually play an important part this season.
Big test for Parky next weekend, I think. After more than 270 mins without a league goal, surely he has to unveil the fabled plan (b) next Saturday?
Yes, credit Oldham, their gameplan worked. Just.
I agree it is a big big test.
But what is all this plan B crap? I don't get it. It's too simplistic to say that IMO.
Parky saw we weren't getting a breakthrough yesterday and changed the formation, the personnel and the tactics.Doesn't that count as a plan B?
It didn't get us a result but probably should have, we had enough chances.
The system we've been playing made the most of the players we have and got results until recently and we all know you don't change a winning team.
Now we have McKenzie coming back to fitness and some of the kids gaining confidence; we'll see whether Parky is ready to mix it up.
See Scoham's reference elsewhere to the headline on the report of the game in The Times and the quotes from the Oldham captain, Six-a-bag !
''Parky saw we weren't getting a breakthrough yesterday and changed the formation, the personnel and the tactics.Doesn't that count as a plan B?''
Well, try this from the Mail on Sunday:
''Opting to leave Dean Burton as a lone striker, with the usually purposeful Jonjo Shelvey hopelessly lost in a roaming role was, in the circumstances, a desperately negative move.' With three strikers on the bench, Parkinson then neglected to alter his mis-firing plan until the 63rd minute, which ensured Charlton achieved little more than they deserved. ''
I think what a lot of people are saying is that it was too late to break the pattern of the game. Surely time to start the game with a different set-up next week as we seek our first goal in four games. Especialy at home against opponents who are hoping for a point at best (as Oldham certainly were)...
It's just that a lot of people seem to be sticking a "no plan b" label on Parky as though he only knows one way of playing.
I mean, pleeeeeaase!.
I don't agree with the view that he should he changed our formation ahead of kick-off against Oldham; it would have shown a complete lack of faith.
During the game he recognised the need to change it and did, and nearly got a result.
Now, I'll accept the view that he could/should have changed it sooner - that much is moot.
With the new reality of no goals in 3 games, I agree perhaps nows the time to make the change(s)
