Penalties and sending offs

edited October 2009 in General Charlton
If my memory serves we've had neither in any of our leagues games this season.

(we missed one pen in the League cup)

Given that other teams seem to have benefited from playing 10 men and had a few pens as well are we due a change in fortune.

Of course we've not given away any pens or had anyone sent off yet either.

  • I'm sure I've seen Elliot let in a penalty at home this season?
  • We've had a few reasonable shouts for pens this season, but mainly for 'holding' offences, which tend not to be given unless there's a 'Drogba-like' collapse. Maybe more chance with Izale, Waggy or Sam running into the box?
  • Makes a change from last season when we seemed to give away penalties nearly every week, and most weeks it was Bailey with rash challenges. Apologies to Bailey if that's not the case but that's certainly what it seemed like

Bailey did have a couple of shockers last season, but he at least made up for it at the other end of the pitch. I'm sure Parky has had a word with him about rash challenges in the box. Hudson on the other hand gave away a couple of pens, and didn't really make up for it by another means.

Could see a few penalties tonight as it goes straight to pens if the scores are level at 90 minutes.

He saved one against Ipswich in the friendly, but Walters tucked in the rebound. Saints, Wycombe, nor Exeter scored a penalty.
