general charlton

edited October 2009 in General Charlton
Thought saturdays game at Leeds was very poor in terms of quality and keeping possession of the ball,so far this season the quality of football played in this division is poor.Parky discribed a big game for us as Colchester where of course we lost 3-0 ,i call big games for charlton as premiership or championship clubs not Colchester,Exeter or Wycombe, these are teams we should be comfortable beating all day.He mentions about our squad being small and having to strengthen it ,why did we let quality players go like Wright, Yassin,Dicko i hope when he signs or loans players in they are better than the players he signed last season who were shocking and sent us down.Solly's been on the bench all season without coming on,seen him play u18's and reserves last season quality player England international right back,u16/u17's will he be another player not to be given a chance by Parky and leave at the end of his contract.

  • Harsh to say Parky's signings sent us down.

    The damage was done.
  • Disagree with a lot of that, possesion as listed earlier was 55% in an earlier thread and I though we looked pretty good in the second half. we let players go as money was a big issue and I believe he's made some very good decisions in the squad looking at the results this season. alright we got tonked at colchester but out of our previous results I'm still pretty pleased with what he's achieved
  • Maybe the wind had something to do with the quality. Most people who were there said we played some good stuff.

The Wright, Yassin and Dickson sagas have been done to death on other threads.

The players he signed last season (Burton and Spring) and both doing more than OK IMHO. Some of his loans were (Ward, Murty) were decent too. The players he's bought this season have also done well considering they all came on free transfers

Solly is a prospect. Parky gave him his debut, has constantly talked him up and put him in the squad for just about every game. At the moment Richardson, a much more experienced player, is ahead of him. Hardly fair to suggest that he'll never be given a chance and let go so early in his career.
  • unfortunatley tony s those glory days of years gone by are but a wonderful memory and we all have to adjust our levels of satisfaction accordingly and that is easier for some than it is for others...

doesn't mean we can't pine for those glory days but we have to focus on the near and now and that is what must be considered in our present circumstances, we've had an exceptional start and gained a good point at leeds...

we are in a pub league with mainly pub players so we have to be happy that our pub team aint that bad compared to the other boozers' teams we're playing against ;-)

    onwards and upwards!!

Exactly, his chance will come. Richardson will eventually miss a game for whatever reason and Solly will play. In fact I think he'll play tomorrow night. We know Parky rates him, pretty sure Gritt does and I'm sure Kinsella does as well.

As for Wright - he wanted to go, he knew he could go to a club for more regular football. Not interested in being a sub all season.

Dickson, same thing, wants to start every game.

Yassin we know is down to more than just performances. We now have a good League One right back in RIchardson and a promising back up in Solly.

True we need more depth to the squad, but the players you mention were never going to stay. If they did, they wouldn't have been happy being back up.
  • Solly is still young and from what I have seen looks a good prospect, can't see him being released at end of his contract. Maybe not reasy for first team week in week out but 2mora is a good chance for him to prove a point even if it is at left back.

    are you on a wind-up?
  • Thinking we were too big to get relegated last season..................

    .............ended up getting us relegated!

We are in League 1. Deal with it.

We will play with the big boys again when we have earned the right.

Plus, we're not doing too badly this season, in case you hadn't noticed.
