You know that training drill when the first team line up against a team of "cones" to simulate a match situation?
Well, when they practise that drill, do you reckon Mr. Rommedahl actually ever delivers a decent final ball or gets away a dangerous shot?
Yeah, yeah, the linesman made a prat of himself but, come on, how much possession and how much time and space does Rommedahl actually want before he produces a killer final ball or scores himself? We should have had Fulham dead and buried long before injury time.
Put it this way, if that had been our defence giving even someone like Ronaldo, Lennon or Henry that much space and time with the ball then what do you reckon he would have done with it?
Sorry Dennis, just piss off and find your Premiership club for next season.

if his final ball was decent
he would never have come to us in the first place
can't fault your effort last night Den, but close the door on your way out mate !
Someone told me last night he has been our best player over the past two months. Personally, i can think of very few CAFC players over the years that frustrate me more than him.
I hope he goes soon.
You don't pay 2.5 mill for some1 from the dutch league and they can't do this (then again we only signed him cos thought were gettin kezman aswell and didn;t want him b lonely, shame chelsea stole our bid (again!!))
have you actually watched any of the Dutch league? It's on par with CCL1, woeful. Even Ajax have become mediocre. I'm sorry but we were had big time with Rommers, got suckered with the 'pace' tag without realising the only time he can actually deliver a final ball is in training.........FACT!
Im feeling quite inspired again......just need to shore up the very shaky defence.....
definately get rid of him. when i watched them against sheff utd the other week, prior to the game the squad were practicing and all were smashing the ball into the net as though they could do it all day long. maybe we should start playing games at the training ground?
i don't think ferguson or benitez may be quite so forthcoming if we offered a swap, although fergie did sign ralph milne.
i'll give rommedahl a break, when he delivers a home goal, (2 & half years and still waiting).
Ronaldo does, and as much as some dislike the bloke, he's probably the best player in the Premiership this season by a country mile
To me, there are three things you COULD expect from a wide midfielder
1. He tucks centre, making us hard to break down, tracks back and double's up with fullback
2. He creates goal scoring opportunities
3. He chips in with his share of goals from deep.
1 I have never seen, while 2 and 3 have been as rare as comets.
I know i maybe being harsh, but he shirks defensive responsibilities (you only had to see Pardew shouting at him near the end to move two yards to at least attempt to stop short throws), and generally won't get involved offensively unless its brought to him. He then frustrates, and 8 times out of 10 disappoints.
Would be happy to see a counter argument though.
Yeah he is a luxury player in many respects, and his tackling is about as hard as melting chocolate but at least last night we were using him in the right way for once. He had clearly been given better instruction, namely when ya get it dennis put ya head down and run as fast as ya can in a forward direction. I agree his last ball isn't always great and not always the right one, but he does put in a reasonable percentage of good balls, and he had a fair effort at goal last night. And if someone else had taken advantage of one of his passes, then we would have probably gone on to win it.
And when he does turn and run at them, it's a good sight to see eh? I know when it goes tits up a few seconds later, one or two of us would like to headbutt him, but you'd have to catch him first eh.
Having said all that, I'm not sure he is a player to play a whole game, thought the choice to bring him on for the second half was a good one, dunno if Thomas was knackered or had had a knock. But it gave us something different, and when we go forward in counter attack like that , we have got a fair bit of pace that we should be able to utilise to better effect than we did last night.
With the possible exception of JFH who to be fair, does have an arse the size of a small planet to cart about :)
Thought we were much much better last night. The players had a go.
In rugby they have 'impact' players, Dennis could fit that role.
Personally can see both sides of the argument - he's a great player to have to give the ball to to set up the counter attack, but the final ball often disappoints and when it doesn't the other player doesn't capitalise (eg Ambrose and JFH).
On balance, I still think he's worth a place in the squad and hope Pardew can find a way of getting the best out of him.
Well Curbs, Dowie and Reed couldn't so if Pards does, it will be good testament to his coaching and managerial skills.
I'll be the first to put my hands up and say well done if Romm kicks on, but i think the chances of it happening are close to zero IMO.
I agree, he IS exciting to watch because you KNOW that he can skin the full-back and get in behind but when he does that he has no poise or composure and wastes the final ball dreadfully.
I don't expect him to tackle hard or be aggressive, that's not his job, but if he is played as a specialist winger then he has to deliver quality and he just does not.
I reckon we should go with a midfield (RtL) Ambrose, Holland, Kish, Reid at least until Thomas finds some form.
Romm'll run straight into the man
'cos he's f'ing shi...
He infuriates the hell out of me, especially as I allow myself to be fooled every time that this time, this one run will be the one where he delivers. Or maybe this one...he's got it again...will he?... No, he won't.
