Well it's great that he played (and so well today). I really liked him when he played for us a couple of years ago. I can't really understand why a player of his quality is not playing at least one Division higher. Still I hope he comes back from Nigeria fitter and even sharper.
And it didn't take long for Reading to realise he wasn't a Premier League player, he barely played for them. They had just been promoted and he was a cheap gamble.
He's only got 4 or 5 caps I believe, it's a bit like saying Dickson plays for Ghana because he's got a couple of caps. Not like he's been a regular player for them.
And that Bob Carolges fella - aka Karim Bagheri - was clearly mustard as he had the world record for goals scored in an international match, or something like that.

Think he is a good Championship standard defender, needs a decent partner alongside him (Dailly for example), could be a miss against Oldham but at least it gives Llera a chance to make up for Tuesday and hopefully make a point
if a player plays well and then gets dropped the next week and then required again and plays well again but is still dropped the next week they would get disillusioned, maybe even become a problem and then maybe their attitude is deemed to not be good enough and then you alienate them and they end up getting shipped off to Motherwell or Bristol Rovers. Sodje time will come naturally, either through Llera playing badly or through a suspension and then it'll be up to him to keep his place. Seeing as he didn't even make the Nigerian bench he should consider jacking international football in.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]So by that logic you would keep Spring in the side, as he's played well, and not bring back Semedo?
I'd start with Spring yes for man management reasons.
However, looking at it pragmatically, Semedo is not going to have the match fitness to play 90 minutes in his first match back against arguably a top 6 side in this division.
Spring to start and Semedo on at half time for Spring most likely but any midfielder (Jonjo maybe) who is looking jaded.

yes. Wouldn't have said that two games ago but at Leeds and once again last week he was one of our better players. Just think that if a player plays well and you still drop him then what incentive is there to do well, train properly etc as you know at the end of the day it means diddly-squat. I'm not saying that it was the only problem with reagrd to Moo2 but I reckon it's what started it and certainly didn't help.
Start with Semedo and Spring; depending on Semedo's fitness. Then bring on Racon after fifty five mins if nothing is happening. Racon for me hasn't been forcing issues and at times been lazy the last few matches. Semedo's not a player to bring on to positively change matches, maybe shutout.
I'd prob start with Sodje, whilst I'm not a fan of his cd partnering responsibilities I trust Dailly to sort him out and he brings energy to the team. As a team we lack a bit of zip.
Managers traditionally keep to the maxim, "never change a winning side".
Well, with just 1 win in 6, even though we've only lost 1 match, it's not really any longer a winning side.
We seem to have lost our edge.
Apart from the Colchester calamity, we're reasonably tight at the back and not conceding, but we've not scored in 3 games. Strangely, since Semedo has been out of the side, we've not looked nearly so potent in attack.
Burton has been playing on with various injuries and naturally doesn't seem to be so effective as he was in earlier matches.
So my conclusion is ....... we're weaker than we were/should be right through the spine of the side.
Maybe a brave decision needs to be made?
Sodje won't be back until today whereas LLera will have focussing on this game all week. Llera played well last week. I'd probably stick with Llera but will trust Parky's judement on this.
Llera was better last week but lets face it, Oldham hardly offered much of a threat. Sodje was superb against Leeds and in very difficult conditions stifled the threat of arguably the best striker force in the league therefore he has to play on sat. Llera against the likes of Jordan Rhodes and Theo Robinson scares me!

I'd play Sodje if he arrived back at 5 to 3 on Saturday.Arguably best player on the pitch at Leeds. We'd prob have lost up there if Llera played.

God help us in next years World Cup then. If we get any injuries and the replacements do well they will stay in the team.
Terry gets injured and Upson keeps his place.
Rooney gets injured and Heskey keeps his place.
I know what you're saying but don't agree. You play your best players if they are fit, on form and not a 'problem player'.
You also don't seem to have taken into account Sodje getting disillusioned having been MOM at Leeds and him and everyone else knowing that he is better than Llera.
I miss him already - we looked better defensively at Leeds than we did at home to Boreham. So I'd play him week in week out if his work ethics good in training. He's a no nonsense defender, at the moment 50p head Miguel is the opposite of that.

Another one that Curbs let get away :-)
I noticed Mambo didn't play for Welling on Saturday, wonder if we're bringing him back for Tuesday? Probably not but it's something we might consider.
Why?
Players get dropped, that's part of the game.
If Sodje is the best player for the game then put him on.
Disagree with this. You play your best players and Sodje is clearly better than Llera. Fergie wouldn't keep Rio or Vidic on the bench and play Evans

It is about playing your best team.
