Curious piece in the Grauniad's sport section today (p. 2). I don't know how to do linky things, so I'll quote briefly: "Charlton are expected to announce a much needed boost to their finances.... losses remain unsustainable and a continuing need for external financing has become clear. Fortunately, with the club having wealthy fans such as... Sir Maurice Hatter and... Richard Murray, that has been possible." What can it mean?

What does it mean?
Hard to tell from that extract but seems to imply, or at least I infer, that Richard Murray and Sir Maurice are putting some money into the Club.

and as its true must mean the "takeover" is not going to happen (if it ever existed)
Someone mentions the Guardian and just like Pavlov's dog.... ; - )
Checked and there is nothing on the OS.
Unusual for them
I read it completely opposite to that - ie more money coming in from the usual sources.
Always wondered what Maurice Hatter did anyway!
Personal wealth: £40m
Charity's net assets: £7.66m
Maurice Hatter Foundation
Hatter, 72, owns the London-based electronic components company IMO Precision Controls, which he established in the late 1950s with only £100. Since setting up his foundation in 1987, his charitable concerns have mainly been medicine, education and Jewish causes. One significant donation led to the establishment of the Hatter Institute for Cardiovascular Studies at University College Hospital, London, in 1990. Other donations have been invested in a full research laboratory at the University of Cape Town Medical School and the Haifa university in Israel - also known as the University of Peace. In 1997, £1m was given to the British government's literacy programme. Hatter was knighted in 1999.
any of these able to stump up cash? apart from Karl Howman and Elliot theres a few people who have a bob or too, especially the ice skating bloke..
Brian Jokat is our Man... he is in with AEG.
By the way I hear the tomblyboos are heading a rival consortium, as long as the harboos are not involved I would be happy for them to run the club, the harboos are wasters who never seem to do much.
The people who stood to lose all their money in a takeover have decided to give it one more go. Encouraged by our start to the season they feel we can gain promotion back to the 1st Div.
This will make the club a far more attractive proposition for a new buyer. There will be more interested parties and therefore the price will go up, way above the rock bottom level that came close to being agreed to a few weeks ago.
This could be seen as a shrewd business venture or alternativel, throwing good money after bad.
Only time will tell.
If thats The Valley pitch then Paddy needs sacking ! ;0)
The creators were clearly on all kinds of illegal substances.

That is what I had heard, and posted this about a week ago in the NO TAKEOVER thread.
