Good spot. This footage is on the Centenary DVD which is an excellent watch. Although at the end where they are calling for a few more years in the premiership seems slightly ambitious.
brilliant nice one nelsenout
third division to first in consecutive seasons the first team to do it, something to be proud of!
although if it happened now it might piss off some people cos they wouldn't want us playing in the vile premiership
and if you know your history it's enough to make your heart go whoooooooooooooooooah
Third division to top flight in consecutive seasons, the first team to do, something to be proud of.
And we so nearly managed, top flight to Third Division in consecutive seasons.
If only Pardew hadn't let us down by finishing 11th in the Championship.
Northampton went from fourth division to the first division and back to the fourth in the space of ten seasons 1960-1970 but they didn't manage the third-second-first in consecutive seasons...
However, one club has gone from third to first and first to third in consecutive seasons....
[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]I have vague memories of Northampton going from the 4th to the 1st and back again in the 60s in pretty quick time.
Ring a bell with you Oggy?
That is correct. Theo Foley was part of the Northampton team in those days.
It is QPR who have repeated our three season epic.....what was astonishing about us was finishing second in the top flight too, easily the equivalent of a FOUR division rise if it ever happens! What are the odds, starting from now, of being the only club to to the three division thing TWICE??....come on Phil Parkinson, immortality awaits if you can pull that one off!

Thanks
No, Northampton went from fourth to first and back again.

Except for the very last bit I think.
They liked a thick knit in those days!
Anyone on here at that match?
We signed Graham Moore from the relegated Northamton in 67 . I recall we beat them 3-0 to relegate them
I thought Leyton Orient did something like that in the early sixties.
